In the main "now playing" screen it doesn't scroll the titles? But at the top of the screen it does. And the sorting. Bleh. And when you tap the Walkman button, the Walkman app takes about 1.2 seconds to come up. Why so slow? Worse yet, if you press and hold the Walkman app (perhaps you thought you had to hold it until it comes up), it will NEVER come up, it's like you didn't press the button at all! Also, despite the seemingly good idea of the microphone "yoke" that lets you connect earbuds to the phone to listen to music, they don't work out in some ways. If you use that adapter to hook your phone up as an mp3 player in your car, the audio will come out the car speakers, and if the phone rings, the call will too! But, the microphone isn't near your neck and picks up echoes and so in reality if a call comes in you have to scramble to unhook the setup so you can accept the call. Bummer. And woe to you if you were to select all songs and set your phone to shuffle, because it thinks your ringtones are songs and will shuffle them in. Can I relocate the ringtones on the phone (or mem card) so that the phone doesn't think they are music, yet still work as ringtones? I like the phone, but it would never tear me away from my iPod. |

Plus if you transfer your music in two different ways, it screws it up even more. Apparently sending it via BT and using the data cable has it's own way of placing the MP3 in the folder. ![]() |

I don't mind folders in folders, I don't care about the actual file system organization (used to iTunes which ignores it), but I would like to have ringtones that aren't seen as songs. For that matter, why can I not make the phone play the name (voice command) of a caller when I receive a call over the earbuds? I hope it works over Bluetooth. Thanks randomtask77 for the tip, but I'm not investing any more dough in this thing as a music player. Buying the cable won't fix the other problems with the music player, so I'm sticking with my iPod, which I already have a cable for. (What's with all the custom cables nowadays?) |

This MP3 sorting issue has to be top of the list. It's just WAY too annoying to have the phone throwing its #@%&@ protected MP3s into the middle of the actual music I've loaded on there. I've managed to delete all but three audio files so far, and since two of those are MIDI ringtones, there's only one M4A file remaining on the phone to torment me.. Unfortunately shaolinmonk's suggestion above won't work as it's a "Protected File". Cannot be moved, renamed, or deleted (merely purchased and despised for hundreds of dollars, apparently). I must kill this file. Any ideas? FWIW, these are the files that don't seem to be moveable for me: Greeting.m4a Ringlord.mid Sony Ericsson.mid |

Anyway -- as far as the MP3 player goes, there is only the one M4A file (Greeting.m4a) remaining on the phone to torment me.. Any ideas? |

Given that this phone is part of the "Walkman" product line, doesn't this seem like an odd move on the part of SE? What's the situation for owners of their other Walkman phones? Does everyone just accept the presence of these crap files and make playlists so they aren't heard or something? |

The only place in the Walkman app I can delete it from is "Now Playing", which isn't exactly helpful since it comes right back the next time I launch the Walkman.. If I try to remove it from under "Tracks" or "Artists", the phone simply says "Failed" (which makes sense as the #$^&@#$% thing is a protected file). Am I missing something ridiculously obvious here, or am I correct in thinking that the ONLY way to prevent that track from being played is to work strictly from playlists I create for myself? |

when you first start the phone... the artist sony is there.. and there's like 10 sample songs... if you delete them from now playing they come back.. but if you delete them from artist, sony (press c) they don't come back. secondly.. if i play my own song.. then pause and exit the walkman app.. next time i start it will resume where i left off in that track, the walkman app no longer pics up the ringtones even though they are still on the phone.. i don't have a w810 at the moment i sent my back.. but the w600 should be the same though.... sound quality on the walkman phones is very good.. i have no complaints whatsover and i haven't seen any threads saying the mp3 quality is poor.. in terms on cellphones IMO sony has currently surpassed all we'll see how the nokia 3250 and rokr e2 perform though. i don't sort so i don't know what everyone is talking about... but random will not play my ringtones anymore. |

Try playing an MP3 at low volume (1 bar) and you'll hear what I'm talking about. I've tried 3 Cingular W600i phones, all crap! |
