Sync with Outlook problem! Help PLEASE PLEASE

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I bought an A1200 last night and it synced with outlook with almost no problem. The only thing is, and this has happened on all other moto phones, the way it handles my appointments. I use outlook to make my work schedule for all employees, and the easiest way to do this is to make their name an all day appt. When I sync my phone with outlook it does not trasfer these as all day appt's instead it makes them from like 12am to 1 am or something like that. Is there a way to make these transfer as all day appts instead of the way it is doing it????? It is important becuse it then does not show them on the home screen, and sometimes it applys them to the next day instead of the correct day (I think because they go till 1am the next day) The thing is I know the phone can handle all day appts because it is an option if you enter the appt on the phone. Please please please help me if you can. I love this phone but I will return it if I can not solve this issue.

TIA

didn't you post in another thread, and start yet another, asking about syncing this with outlook and you were told to wait for the upgrade of mpt for it to work properly?

actually if you read it I am talking about a problem that I have had with all Moto syncs with Outlook. I was also told that it would not work at all, which it did. Just trying to figure out a question that is more based on Moto phone tools. I am certain that I am not the only person that has ever had this problem and that someone can tell me if it is possible to fix. Obviously this person is not you. Thanks anyway

well, maybe i am the person...my phone does it just fine...how are you setting up appts? are you doing it from within mpt? i don't...i setup my appts from within outlook and select All Day...when i then synchronize the phone it shows up as all day and not 1 hr (which when i tested it from within mpt it does show up like 1 hr as you said)...if you're doing it from within mpt, try doing it from outlook...

thanks for trying to help! Ok so here is how I do it. I always use outlook and not MPT. When I schedule an all day appt I use the shortcut method on outlook, which is just clink in the day you are working with and start typing, then hit enter. If you go and look at it then it shows up as an all day appt. Do you think this could be the reason why? What would be weird is that it shows up as an all day appt in outlook, so I dont see why it would not on my phone via MPT. I just checked and the all day shows up as starting as starting at 12am and ending monday at 1am. If I go into the appt to edit it it does not show the all day box checked, so I guess it is just not recognizing it as an all day.....but I don't get why? Any thoughts?

here's how i do it:
1) in outlook calendar i click on NEW
2) type in subject, location, other info
3) click the box ALL DAY EVENT
4) then i click the SYNCHRONIZE button for mpt

that works for me...when i open my calendar it shows up as all day just as i'd expect it to do...try it that way...

ok i tried it that way and I get the same thing....it shows up the same way. Now I realize what is happening is the events are rolling over to the next day because it shows them going to 1am monday. It is really strange. What version of MPT are you using?

When you check the event does it show up as all day checked in the options or just on the calander view.

i'm using an old version (3.11h) and outlook 2003...

i'm not sure what you mean by "in the options or just in calendar view." when i check all day in outlook it shows up as all day in outlook...when i look at my calendar on my phone, both weekly and daily view, it shows it as all day...

heya. you should update MPT first. i always find that helpful aswell.

Ok well I really want to say thank you for both of your help...especially you cyberpac. I have told myself time and time again that I just need to not buy Moto smart phones. They never work how I want them to work. I just called my guy and I am going to return this phone today and get the Samsung i300 I looked at yesterday. I it not as small or as cool of a form factor, but it works, and I get the 3gb harddrive.

Thanks again

sorry it didn't work like you wanted...that sucks for such a cool phone...i rarely use my razr's calendar, but when i do it comes in handy...so i understand the need to have a calendar that works...good luck!

MPT shipped in-box with the A1200/Ming -- with a version that actually works, 4.1.x, which is newer than what's on LiveUpdate.

You never answered with what version of MPT you are using, or what phone profile you are using in said version. Instead of giving up, it might be worthwhile to get a version of software that actually supports the phone.

Cyberpac....

Just had a total brainstorm realization..... I realized that my outlook was not set for daylight savings. Could this be why the calander was setting the appts wrong in my phone so there were overlapping into the next day??? That would explain the one hour problem. Man I feel stupid...anyway I loved that phone so if that is the deal I am going to go buy it again, but I really would feel stupis if I buy it, and that is not the problem, and then have to return it again.

Thanks alot

hhmmm...could be, i dunno...do you have no way of testing that out (can you try it on your pebble)? i might be able to test it on my razr this evening and get back to you...
