I have recently downloaded:
Skinner4Moto
Skinner4Moto L7 Module
P2k commander

as I wish to start making my own custom skin. However. I can't get it all to work. When I sellect P2k Mobile Phone It does nothing

When I plug in my phone this is what happens.

1. Tooltip shows up in tray saying:
Motorola Phone (L7) [Or something like that]
2. Found new hardware wizard pops up and says:
Windows will search for current and updated software by looking on your computer, on the hardware installation CD or on the Windows Update Web site (with your permission).

Can windows connect to Windows Update to search for software.
[ ] Yes, this time only
[ ] Yes, now and every time I connect a device
[ ] No

So I clicked Yes, this time only.

3. next screen displayed:
This wizard helps you install software for:
Motorola Phone (L7)

If your hardware came with an installation cd or floppy disk insert it now (Which it didn't).

I then clicked install software automatically

4. It searched

5. Displayed:
Cannot install this hardware
The hardware was not installed because it cannot find the nessecary software.

6. Clicked Finish

Do I need to download some drivers from motorola or something? How can I access the phone using USB? I have searched and searched for help on this topic but no luck, either my search terms were rubbish or I was blind (Or neither, rendering me stupid

)

Also, before I play with my phone I would like to make a backup so that if I screw it up I can revert back (how?)

I'm having the same problem, I can't even get MPT to recognise the phone if I connect by cable. I've only been able to use MPT with bluetooth. I hope somebody can help with this as I would like to skin my L7 (and even get rid of the annoying grey bar on the side of the home screen that Orange have put on the phone, if it's at all possible) I've installed the 2.9 driver pack and that doesn't even help!

Yeah. Thats what I am wishing to do, skin it and remove the toolbar (maybe).

I have done some more searching and I have determined that we need Motorola RSD Lite 2.4, havent a clue where to get it though. I think we may also need Motorola PhoneTools too but i'm not sure, and I don't fancy paying £30 as I already have a USB cable, so I would be buying a CD for 30!
