MP3 playback.. only off an additional mem card?

I've enabled my phone to play MP3 files, but my memory cards haven't arrived yet... can you only use the mp3 playback with an external minisd card?
Also, the mp3 playback looks like it has plaback options, like 3d surround, concert, ect.. any way to access those from wmplayer 10's synced music files, or vcast files?
I really like the playlist idea, and also really like the option to be able to customize playback sound, but it's be nice to have both at the same time.
