I work for tmobile right now. I have a couple of friends who work for cingular, these are basically people i have known from day before we both worked for wireless companies. Basically i always joke around with him about getting me a job, well he did. The hourly seems to be slightly higher than what i make with tmobile, but i wanted to know from people who have experience with both as my friend does not, on which company seems to pay more as far as commission is concerned. Obviously it is extremely hard to compare, but this is a HUGE choice in my life, and would like some opinion from people who have already gone through it, hoping that there are some on here. Thanks alot in advance for No Sarcasm/or unnecessary comments.

i havent worked for tmobile, but let me make a list of the best and worst of all of them

#1 will be top and the #4 be the worst.

pay: #1 verizon, #2 t-mobile, #3 cingular, #4 sprint/nextel

how the company treats their sales force:

#1 verizon, #2 t-mobile, #3 sprint ,#4,cingular, #5 cingular (former at&t)*, #5 nextel**

* former at&t wireless sales force. while not treated good, both orange and blue didnt get it like the sprint/nextel merger

** probably truely the group of people who got shafted by management to the core. i feel bad for the nextel guys.blue reps, if you truely want to see how bad they got it, or still are, go ahead and look. be glad you're not where they are.

im 50/50 in terms of where to place cingular in terms of how management has been with us so far, but from what i saw from friends at sprint, they atleast make more $$ hourly to make up with them dealing with cs issues like we do( but for less)

I would say Alfred's post above is pretty accurate, except in the treatment of employees regarding former AT&T. I would say former AT&T and T-Mobile were treated the the best in the industry.

Today treatment of sales force would look like this:
#1 T-Mobile
#2 Verizon
#3 Cingular
#4 Sprint/Nextel

Commissions:
#1 Verizon
#2-3 (Tie) Cingular / T-Mobile (Cingular would of been higher if it wasnt for a recent commissions cut)
#4 Sprint/Nextel

At Cingular you may earn a little more but it will be a lot more stressful. We have these things called migrations... (opening up pandora's box)

Actually with the new commission structure that just rolled out, i don't mind migrations. 1) they're easy to do and customers don't get charged an upgrade/activation fee. 2) Customer's first bill is prorated and doesn't get billed in advanced. This all makes the customer happy and makes an easy sale for you

Now that migrations are worth the same as activations, I say send them all to me! LOL. Funny how commissions change attitude huh?

you know you dont like the add a line when prepaid pays you more than a add a line.

Former blue employees dealtwith a whole lot of ****, with software issues, network flaws so on and so forth, but attws knew the conditions were rough and they treated us very well, lower insurance costs, higher commissions, i loved our payouts! and i loved how we didnt have uniforms and had dressed very professionally. attws treated its employees great, why do you think they put up with all the crap!

end of my rant

Obviously you guys havent heard of the new paycut for tmobile commission, i dont want to go into it because of company policies, but they cut us alot. Especially since they are rolling out 2 years, now the commission struction just is terrible. The offer letter was sent out today, so I hope that the hourly is more, and the commission is close, but i really cant see being treated as terrible as all of you mention, can you give me an example. I mean at tmobile right now the worst thing i have to worry about is hitting quota and its not like its life or death basically just them telling you that u need to try harder next month, or maybe getting yelled at for doing bad on a secret shop.

Thanks alot for all of the replies

I know of 2 cingular employees who left to T Mobile thinking the grass was greener and they both were recently trying to get rehired with Cingular. So it leads me to believe commission is less on the T Mobile side. The environment T Mobile creates is a lot more laid back relaxed you tried your best good job type job. Where cingular and verizon are a lot more agressive at hit your numbers blah blah blah. T Mobile is like a lot of companies in wireless use to be back in the mid to late 90s before they started tightening the purses on fun to work for type place.

I got my offer letter today... I can confidently say that it is a significant difference over T-mobiles pay. Im pretty happy.
