Razr constantly says Cingular even though I'm on T-Mobile

Hi guys, I got a razr a week ago, but I've run into two problems with it. It was a factory unlocked one from somewhere in asia (got it at a chinese phone shop), and constantly has the roaming symbol and says cingular even though I'm on T-Mobile. I was just wondering if this was anything weird, because I thought that Cingular and T-Mo were pretty much the same in SoCal. Also, my other problem was that I tried to send a multimedia message yesterday, and I couldn't send it. Do I need to have motorola send me the correct settings, or should I take this up with my carrier? Thanks.

you need to enter the settings for cingular for web browsing and MMS service.

Wait, so I need the Cingular settings even though I'm on T-Mobile? When I do what you said it says "exceeds maximum limit, cannot create new mms profile" or something like that.

No he just doesn't know what he's talking about. You definitely need the T-Mobile settings sent to your phone. Go here>> http://tmobileus.wdsglobal.com/phonefirst

About the maximum limit thing, if you go into web sessions, can you delete them? If not you'll have to use P2keditor to take a file out.

Darn, it doesn't let me delete web sessions. So what is this p2keditor?

ur RAZR says cingular cus the tower may be owned by cingular, but t-mo is licenced to use it for virtual coverage.

paolo has no idea what he is talking about, in order for you phone to display the correct carrier u need to do a seem edit so that the phone reads the network from the sim card. to fix this To read network from SIM check SEEM 0032_0001> offset 4B > check bit 6
for Roam Triangle Off- offset 34 - check bit 3
for your mms settings u must get them from your carrier usually ota

Sorry ...but Paola is right ... thats just telling what tower his phone is on .... in this case a cingular tower..

Sorry to be a jackas but dont talk about me like that. My Fido RAZR says Rogers Wireless as the alpha tag and I HAVE a FIDO sim, I KNOW WHY the alpha tag stays that way because I DID some help/work with Fido & Rogers Network Integration Team and they explained all this in detail to me..

do these seem edits:
To read network from SIM check SEEM 0032_0001> offset 4B > check bit 6
for Roam Triangle Off- offset 34 - check bit 3

I have an unlocked SLVR with Cingular Blue SIM. It shows the Green Triangle even though I am on the Cingular Network. Could someone tell me how to access the settings above in order to remove the roaming triangle.

Thanks

sometimes you cant even change the alpha tag back to say cingular or fido depending on your phones flex branding.. so in the case of your alpha tag, i wouldnt worry as to what it says, now as for the roaming triangle, www.xlr8.us/hofo/map.txt tells you how to remove it
