Whats the point of a re-flash?

I mean, when i flashed my phone, I used a MP which had both flex and flash. and my phone seems to just work fine.

And it seems every tutorial says the last step after installing a MP is to re-flash..but why?

cause the MP already has the flash file.

if you don't need a new flex, you can reflash to get the latest flash on your phone...

So basically its just to get the newest then? Cause the MP I used has the latest...so really, its pointless if the MP already has the newest in both.

I was just making sure that it waasnt some required thing to keep the phone stable.

Have you heard the joke about the valley girl that took two contraceptives because she wanted to be "fer sure, fer sure"?

OK, how about how old UNIX sysadmins (like me) that always run 3 sync commands before they reboot?

I don't know that doing the reflash after an MP necessarily fixes anything or is even required, but it appears in the flashing instructions that I've come across and doesn't appear to kill anything, so what's another 5 minutes to be "fer sure, fer sure"?
