LG VX4400, Bitpim, wallpaper won't download

I'm running Bitpim 0.8.08 under Windows XP, using a USB-serial cable with the Prolific driver ver. 2.0.2.1 and an LG VX4400 phone. Bitpim detects the phone; I can "Get Phone Data" and retrieve the phone book from the phone. I add a photo to the Wallpaper section, let Bitpim format it as wallpaper, do a "Send Phone Data" and I get a long exception message in Bitpim. On the phone, the wallpaper I have downloaded shows up on the list of downloaded wallpapers, but if I view it, it is a blank white screen. If I select it to use as the phone's wallpaper, it does nothing and keeps the previous wallpaper. If I try to erase the downloaded wallpaper from the phone, it says that it is being erased but remains on the list of downloaded wallpapers.

Can anyone help me out before I go out of my mind?

you need to add a directory named 'shared' under the brew directroy under the filesystem to add wallpapers. for images and ringtones, i'm still searching

got it, make a directory 'user' under the root directory, then a 'sound' directory in the user, and a 'ringer' directory in that. you should be able to then upload sounds and ringtones :-)
