I have messed around with the 8125 trying to change the Text message tone and cannot seem to fig out how to make it be some thing other then an stock tones, I have found where the files stay and put a wav and an mp3 in there and it will not play either of them any idea why?

It can be done. I will be back in about 20 minutes to post how, unless someone else beats me to it.

i use a 4-5 second WAV and simply put it in the windows folder with all the other stock sounds. then select it from the menu in sounds. works for me

I asked basically the exact same question a few days ago...

People said the same thing, yet I never got it to work for me either, as posted in that thread, I can get the file to show up on the list but not play, and quite frankly for me a 4-5 second tone is more like just a sound and i probably wouldn't even hear it. Surely someone on this great forum knows how to use a decent length mp3/wav file to accomplish what the op and I are looking for.

ok well I finally got mine to work with a 15.5sec clip, around 2.5mb, not sure if it was length or file size (tho they are related to one another) that was causing it not to play before. Used the same location as listed above, i might try and see what the max length/file size I can use is, unless someone can just tell me?

So here's an interesting question, how do you get it to stop ringing, i figured as soon as i touched the phone it would stop, just like all of my previous phones. Even if i hit dismisso n the notification it still keeps going. Is this why they don't let really long tones?

just push your volume up or down since it's easier to stop the ringing =D
