E815 - Lousy Battery Life

I purchased an e815 back in mid-February and have been experiencing poor battery performance since day 1.
Does this sound correct the battery should last only one day before needing to be recharged? I do not use the phone much, just leave it on and before I know it, it's completely the dead the following day.
I hear many of you praising the battery life of this phone, yet I'm dissatisfied with it. I did take it back to Verizon and they said they could find nothing wrong with it, but there definitely has to be something screwed up.
What Verizon did was ask me to come back two hours later. They dialed a test number and when I returned, they said the phone had been on talk time for two hours and the battery was still showing 6. I told them that the phone would still be dead the next day, and sure enough, it was.
Also, if you go into Battery Meter, they have a gauge of 0 to 6. I get 6 when the phone is fully charged, but I never get an odd number reading. When the phone is 2, the next step is LOW BATTERY WARNING. Never a "1".
Do I have a defective phone/battery?

If I fully charge mine it will last at least 2 days, 3 if I am not using it. To get it to die in 1 I would have to be using the screen (mobil browser or games) for hours.
What setting does you time default for the screen backlight have? I was at 60 sec but have reduced it to 30.
Have you "power saver" on? Can't remember what it does but mines on (read about it when I got the phone but forget now)

I get the same thing with minimal calls, maybe 2 to 3 during the week. By 10pm, I'm usually down to 2 bars on the battery meter. If I don't make any calls and don't charge it overnight, I'll get a day and a half max. I have battery save on, backlight 10 seconds i think and display timeout 1 minute.

I have backlight set @ 10 seconds, Battery Save ON.
Not once have I gotten the battery to last longer than a day. I've done this test without using the phone.
The battery meter will read 6, and then go to 2, then die. Never have I seen an odd number - has anyone else out there with this phone seen a reading of 1, 3 or 5?
I think I have a bum
battery and Verizon won't do anything to remedy the situation.
All my past Motorola phones have had decent battery life.
BTW, Verizon said they would give me a $20 discount on an extended battery. I just want the standard battery to live up to its advertised performance.

I have seen somewhere that if you are in a EVDO area the phone uses more of the battery. It might be switching between 1x and EVDO. Used to do the same thing when analog and digital were the service options. My battery would drain overnight if it was going back and forth. Hope this helps.

disable EVDO and see what happens. there are threads in the vzw/moto forum on how to do this.
