If you are a Fido subscriber who bought the phone recently (after May 2001), you probably won't be able to display your own operator logo because Fido overrides it. Although Fido denies it, it's not hard to do some tests to prove it. Your logo is saved in your phone already and if you insert another older Fido SIM to your phone you'll probably see the logo again. This topic has been discussed before and a conclusion has been drawn. Please refer to:

Hi, I really don't know what Fido is, my company is Cingular Wireless, I live in the Los Angeles, California area...

Thanks for any help

Oh, Fido is just a Canadian GSM provider. So let's forget about Fido, but it is possible that your provider has this operator logo feature blocked like Fido did to us.

Normally, if this feature is working, you could very easily go to one of those logo website and send yourself an operator logo (not group logo) as an SMS. If you are able to receive it, see it on the phone, you should be able to save it and it should tell you DONE. Then it's done and you can go back to the main screen and you are supposed to see the logo.

However, if your provider blocks the feature, you will still be able to receive, see, save the logo. But after it says DONE you won't be able to see it in the main screen. The logo is stored inside the phone, but the SIM just doesn't allow the phone to display it.

This is what happens to new Fido phones (at least for 3390).

Yea thats what happened...I recieved it, then clicked SHOW and saw it, then saved it, and said "Done" But it still says "CINGULAR" on the screen...Is'nt there a way to use these pictures as Screensavers? Because when i select Screen Saver it shows the built in pictures and it doesn't show the cingular writing...I am guessing there is a way to be done?

Operator logo and screen saver are 2 different things. What I've been talking about is for operator logo. I remember a quick way to justify whether you are able to use you own logo is, if originally you have two lines of your operator's name on your screen then you are allowed to change one to your own logo; if you have only one, you are not allowed to. (maybe for 3390 only)

Operator logo is 72x14 pixels, and you can only store ONE in your phone.

Screen save is 72x28 pixels, and you can store many.

I personally never tried sending screen saver thru SMS coz I make my own screen saver and download it to my phone thru a cable. But I guess if you do it thru SMS it's similar: send, receive, show, save. Then you should be able to find it if you go to Profile>Customize>Screen Saver

Thanks for the info

But i can't even make that a screen saver

Is there a way to save those graphics as screen savers???

If I understand you correctly, you are trying to send yourself a logo but want to use it as a screen saver, rite?

You send yourself a logo and I believe you can only receive it as logo; you send yourself a picture message and you can choose to save that picture as a screen saver. I don't know if there is a quick way of doing what you are trying to do, coz logo and screen saver are different. But if you can find a way to send the logo to yourself as a picture message (not as a logo) then I think maybe you can use it as screen saver.

I suggest you use a cable with LogoManager. This saves you all the troubles and you don't need to pay for the SMS messages. And it's quite useful too.

Hey man...

Do I have to pay for SMS messages? Cuz i sent myself like 10 logos already!!!

I made it work with a screensaver

That depends on your service plan. Check with your provider.

OK, I'm confused. I really thought this was a SIM thing, but I've got a new 32k Cingular SIM in my 8890, and my op logo works just fine. I even went to Manual system search and tried to make it go away, but it didn't. Could there be something else?

You're gonna hate to hear this, but YES....Cingular charges for SMS messages...it's either 1 or 2 dollars. I just received a messsage on my phone from Me43.com...it says....We're in the process of setting up Cingular to be able to receive graphics. Whatever that means....lol. I was able to have a logo sent to me, but it's like someone else on here said. I'm unable to find it. I saw it and saved it, but it's gone...this thing is a pain. Also, about ringtones...instead of having them sent by SMS, download Nokia ringtone converter...it's SIMPLE to use and many sites have free codes that all you do is copy and then paste them into the converter.

Hi YA
There is a new SIM chip available from Cingular its made by a company call Giesecke&Devrient
This Corrects the Logo problem,
So all you have to do is a SIM switch if your are interested in getting your logos back.

But be sure to get the new manufacturer
as i know this one works.

How do you tell if you have the new SIM? I just got my 3390 last week, and I have a cable on order. I am hoping that I can change the op logo. Mine only says 'Cingular' on one line, if that is a valid test.

look on the full size card that they snapped the sim out of
in the bottom right corner on the white side
if the name Giesecke&Devrient is there
youve got it

just send yourself a new logo

hi i am from san diego i have cinglar service with a 5190 and a 3390, an earlyer post said try not turning off the phone when it said company name change. with my 5190 after i turned it off and it changed to cingular i was able to change the opp logo with no problems! But the 3390 cant, i think that cingular programs something into all the new phones's (3390, 8290, 8890) rom(read only memory) to block the operator logos. now the only reason that the old 16k sim cards work is becuase the old cards werent able to interface with the user profiles the cards werent that advanced. to solve this problem you need to get lucky and find an old 16k card or get in to the phones rom(read only memory) and change the operator logo codes. and now i have a question if i get the data cable and download opp logos like that will they work???? e-mail me at oriscool@san.rr.com with the anser if you can
peace from cali!
