i notice that when i open up the phone, it says SEARCHING for a few seconds. i later realized that the network connection breaks after i close the phone. does this happen to anyone else? how can i fix it? this is a serious problem because nobody can call me while my phone is closed. (Note: i don't mean turn on, i mean physically flip open the phone)

somebody please help..
is this fixable?

Are you in the U.S. using T-mobile?

This is a known problem and at least 4 other VS2/VS3 phones my friends owned have the similar problem.

Apparently there is a conflict between VS series and US service carriers. Phone works great w/o problem in Asia countries.

And there is no fix for it yet.

Power on the phone, when it is still searching the network
Press *#9999#
Then it will show some codes, the one below [FLS] is the firmware version
e.g. VS3-VF13 or sth like that

thanks, it's VS3-VF13

mine is vs3-vf02 and it works great with t-mobile

VS3-VF13 should be the latest one.
< 08 is buggies and has less standby hrs...
and 08+ has the black piano theme

UPDATE!

Ok, so i'm in Hong Kong now, and it works perfectly fine. But there is no reason that it shouldn't work in Toronto with Rogers, because my friend used VS3 with Rogers as well. is this fixable?
