Forgot to mention above mentioned settings are for t68i, but other phones that support mms could also be configured.

Posted by: CInsider

Won't work in NYC or Phil until the new Nokia switches that support the service are installed. Don't know when that is supposed to be accomplished but know that is in progress at this time.

Posted by: remo74tg

i am in NYC using t68i and the settings work for me. I have sent and received mms from London and other places without a problem.

My P800 is appropriately configured to Cingular's WAP/Data Connect CSD/GPRS settings . Im able to retrieve IMAP/POP mail, send and receive images/files as attachments, surf the web, but no MMS.

Woedee,
If u read my post it says u have to manually configure your phone, u dont accept the settings nowmms sent u over sms. and u must enter +1 before your number when signing up for nowmms.

You said: "it works u just have to know how to configure your phone."

If you would know anything about the phone I have, you would know that ALL current Cingular P800 owners HAVE TO manually configure ALL network settings onto the phone. As a matter of fact, I have sucessfully assisted several Cingular subscribed forum members with internet settings for their P800's. So I obviously "know how to configure" my phone and am quite familiar with doing so.

I've also entered the nowmms settings manually onto my phone with no avail. Oh well.

Do you have to pay any extra for MMS? or is it just like using SMS?

I guess you don't know as much after 10 years in the cell phone business as you thought?

I MAY BE NEW TO THIS FORUM BUT I HAVE MORE KNOWLEDGE ABOUT CELLULAR PHONES AND RELIABILITY OF TRUTH THAN YOU DO. I OWN A CELLULAR STORE AND HAVE BEEN IN FOR ABOUT 10 YEARS NOW. I HAVE 10 P800'S ON HAND AND OWN 2 PERSONALY. SO DONT WORRY ABOUT MY 9 POSTS, BUT WORRY ABOUT WHAT I SAY!

Hi Kali,
U can not use MMS with dial up wap...u have to get GPRS.

Posted by: Kingamir45

HAS ANYONE TRIED AND SUCCESSFULLY GOT THE MMS TO WORK ON A P800. INPUT IS APPRECIATED

Posted by: WoeDee

After several attempts, I have finally managed to sucessfully configure the NowMMS settings on the P800. Several settings must be appropriately provisioned manually onto the P800 in order to get it right. It works great!

Posted by: remo74tg

Thats great Woedee...MMS is alot of fun.

Can you explain what Express is? what's the setting for that? I just set it up and I sent myself a test message. and my T68i rang, says I have a MMS message, but when I try to open it up, it's trying to dial to the Cingular WAP account? and I had my GPRS disabled...so was wondering........what's your set up for express?

Posted by: Paco

You all who signed up, let me know how much spam you start getting. I am weary of:

"By signing up and using this service, the subscriber agrees to receive promotional messages from sponsors of the NowMMS service. These promotional messages will not exceed one message per day, however this limit is not guaranteed ."

Spam in my email is one thing. Spam coming to my phone, yuck!

Posted by: remo74tg

Have'nt received any spam yet. And kwang Express is the data account if u have cingular gprs.

Posted by: WoeDee

Thanks for pointing out the Terms and Conditions. I did review the terms mentioned and decided to go ahead with the service. No spam as of yet and I initially signed up in December. Also, on the P800 you can exclude receipt of MMS Advertisements and messages from Anonymous Senders.

Posted by: kwang0429

Does MMS has to go through GPRS? I just cancelled my GPRS last month!! since I never use it.........and it's $7 a month......is there anyway to receive/ send MMS through diap uP? thanks in advance

Posted by: WoeDee

I have tried to set it up with dial up....doesnt work. Works only with GPRS.

Posted by: drHo

whoa MMS con cingular. i have GPRS enabled on my 7210. anybody have it working on the 7210? i see mainly SE phones being mentioned...i'll give it a go...oh yeah does the MMS work the same way as GPRS? meaing Cingular charges you per byte send/received? i'm singed up to the 1Megabyte per month deal...not bad considering i was in the
pay as you go' deal and i used 585Kb and was charged like $17 makes sense to get the $7 plan..i use GPRS like everyday..

Posted by: WoeDee

its charged by kb

Posted by: Tr0LL

I sent the test MMS to my phone and I am using dial up. Works fine for me... However, I am using my own dial up ISP and not the Cingular one... I think the Cingular Data Connect ISP number should work though..

I guess that would work. However, you would have to dial-up every time you'd wish to receive an MMS versus receiving it automatically thru GPRS (just like an SMS).
