*Stock V360 T-Mo Branded 86R Flash And Update*

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: uwean

Woot! I finally got a hold of the stock firmware for the t-mo branded V360. For all of you who have been searching high and low for it (like me!), here's a temp link for the rapidshare download until I get it up on my server.

For your info, I got the firmware from a Motorola Service Center tech that I know, and extracted from T-Mobile_V360_RSD_GeneralReleaseFirmware-121505.exe.

DOWNLOAD HERE:
http://rapidshare.de/files/17465321...04_1FF.zip.html

This IS the stock firmware, confirmed to be working. Go me, and big props to Dave.

P.S. - I also uploaded the update to stock, which is imo much better. You guys can find it at http://rapidshare.de/files/17465788... unes.rar.html (this was linked somewhere else on hofo as well), but I've also included a websessions file I found that contains an different proxy IP for data, and seems to load a tad faster (to me).

Have fun modding!

Just what I was looking for! woot! btw, how do you apply the update to stock you posted?

Posted by: evojoey

thank you

Posted by: gorgarath

You so totally rock dude! (Said in best impression of Crush that I can do just cuz I'm odd like that and my daughter was watching Finding Nemo a half hour or so ago.)

Been hoping someone would get a TMO flex up cuz I kinda miss some of the features it has. Now I get my current firmware and my TMO flex.

Let the debranding begin! (Or at least as soon as I finish downloading it.)

EDIT: Gah! Mis-read that part about the updated version. Was thinkingit was ABR with the TMO flex. Hehe. Ah well. Still, I'm happy to get the TMO flex again. Think I'm gonna have to go ahead and see if I can't figure out how to extract a flex from a shx file. Err.. or the flash. Either way really. I'd like to use the newer firmware, but I rather liked the TMO flex. Time to learn! Hope I'm not busy at work tomorrow...

Sorry guys, I was out of town for a bit. The stock firmware is unlocked. I must have flashed and reflashed at least a dozen times by now xD The one of the flashes I used WAS subsidy locked, but deleting the subsidy file takes care of that. I'm not sure if the subsidy lock was with the ABR, but it had no deleterious effect on my v360. So you guys are in the clear with this xD As to how to apply the update, just use any p2k utility that allows for reflashing. Check the motomodders.net downloads section for such apps.
With this, I'm out of the v360 modding loops, upgraded to an SDA. Much more fun to tinker with xD

Good luck guys xD PM me if ya have any lingering questions.

Posted by: Reidy90

AHGH what language is this??? Used RSD Lite to flash... How do I change it to english?

Posted by: Reidy90

Ok lol i found it. Bit hard to find stuff when it is all in french... So this is the factory stock firmware?

Posted by: moeava

Hello all. I'm pretty new to the v360 (had it just over a week now and somehow managed not to do anything that I couldn't fix) came over from the pocket pc forums.

I've managed to get iTunes running and done some basic seem editing. Just the basics.

I've been back and forth around the moto forum now and I've taken in a lot of information, so now I'm just all sorts of confused.

What would be the benefit of this flash.

I'm using a t-mo branded v360
flex-GSTV360TMB01NA104
S/W-R4513_G_08.B7.86R

Back in the PPC forum, I would've just jumped right in, but it seems it's much easier to brick these than my qtek 9100.

Thanks for any info

Posted by: Seedling

T-Mo is the Same Firmware if your upgrade to an ABR Firmware i think you get moew functions like iTunes 2.8 for the phone instead of 1.9. Thats pretty much it.

Probably betetr if you don't upgrade unless you wanna de-brand

This sounds soo wrong but yeah. ABR could have got the T-Mo flex

Posted by: uwean

The ABR fw and the stock fw have nearly identical properties and functions, only the ABR has more of them unlocked. I.E., email client. Other than that, really not much difference. And Reidy, if you flashed it and it's in French, you flashed with the ABR, not the 86R. So it's not stock, download and flash with the file in the first link, the 86R fw.

Posted by: moeava

Are there any major (unrepairable) risks in doing this?

Posted by: Seedling

You might lock your phone or will don't know which Flash though

Posted by: moeava

but isn't mine already locked to t-mo, so if I flash using t-mo it shouldn't be any different. right?

Posted by: Seedling

o Ok there should be no problem then, Just remember to Backup Everything Otherwise itll all be gone

I tried the t-mo flash with my gsm v360, and it keeps failing....is it me or it is not compatible?

same here.

Talked to motorola and they said I had the newest software version on the phone...

All I want is iTunes 2.8 on my phone.

Posted by: moeava

When I load the file into RSD lite it doesn't show anything in the file properties window. When I load the .shx from the second download in post 1 it shows info in the file properties windows.

Motorola service techs know about as much about motorola products as my left nut. Seriously, I've had it with them, as they weren't even able to consistently tell me what class EDGE the v360 supports. Technically, the latest release of v360 firmware for the US is the 86R version, which is stock on most US-released v360s. However, I'm under the impression that the ABR firmware is an update for euro v360s, and is more recent than the 86R. But maybe that's just me.

As far as to negative consequences of flashing, well, you might turn your phone into a nice blue-and-silver paperweight. But that's not so easy to do. If ya go find a how-to-flash guide and follow it, and most importantly, not unplug the phone while flashing, you should be ok.

Do you have all the correct p2k drivers installed? Your PC should recognize the v360 as a somethingorother Neptune device for flashing. I forget what I had to do in order to get it working properly, but it took a few days of fiddling to get it working for me. Try using other flash apps, check motomodders.net downloads section. The actual f/w is definately compatible, as I've flashed my v360 with it a couple of times with full success.

That's what I was figuring based on my past experience with any kind of tech support.

All the drivers are installed correcly on mine. I've been able to make a back-up with flashbackup, update some seems with p2kman, and install iTunes with motomidman, so I think the driver's are installed.

What would flashing my phone with the second download in post 1 do. It doesn't look to be a t-mo flash based on the file name, but again I don't really know what I'm doing.

Oh yeah, almost forgot, how long does it take to flash the phone. Just trying to see when I'll be able to get it done without having to leave it. With backing up I started it when I went to bed, and it made the back-up but it also drained the battery by the time I woke up.

The second file isn't the TMO flex. It's the stock Moto ABR flash with some Euro flex. I've used both with success on my phone. I've also taken the TMO flex out of the first file and successfully put it (and LP003, even if I spell with UK English 90% of the time, I still want US English on my phone. *lol*) on the ABR firmware.
I suppose I should go ahead and upload that later to share. Along with the Wireless Village files I sent to seedling and a few other things.

Currently trying to convert some DRM packs so they can be flashed to the v360. Just wish I had some screenshots of some of them so I knew if they were really all that worthwhile to try and convert. Also working on trying to create a custom flash. I know it's possible because I've used Yuet's mod, and my TMO conversion to ABR, but it's still a bit to go yet before I figure out a complete custom flash.

EDIT>> Here's the link for the WVIM settings. Seems I deleted my ABR TMO flash, I'll remake it and upload it to rapidshare or somewhere. Suggestions on other file sharing sites to use would be nice. Rapidshare is pretty good, but I'm pretty sure there's a better one, just can't remember what. And if anyone with a premium account on rapidshare would like to mirror it, that's always cool. Ensures a bit longer longevity that way.

The v360 is pretty resiliant against turning into a brick. Was flashing my phone the other day and accidentally stepped on the USB cord, pulling it out of the computer. I was like "$#*^@%! when I noticed and saw RSD said failed. I turned my phone off and it turned itself right back on and sat at the boot loader screen. Managed to get it to do that quite a few times actually as I messed around trying to flash some stuff that wasn't meant for the v360. Everytime, would just sit at the boot loader. I was kinda impressed and very thankful as I don't want a brick right now. Even though it seems I'm constantly attempting to make one. *lol*

Posted by: gorgarath

Ok here we go. After flashing with these files, you will end up with this:

Code:
Phone model: V360 Flex number: GSTV360TMB01NA104 - 2.0.1.H5.3.H5.H5.0.2.H5.H5.11.H0.H5.H5.H5.4.0.H5.H 5 Platform: Major version: 08 Minor version: B7 DSP: ROM version number: 63 patch version number: 1F RAM version number: 1F Factory Hardware: AAUG1871BA Language Package ID: 0003 Release label: @(#)R4513_G_08.B7.ABR

It's the ABR flash with TMO flex and LP0003. I haven't figured out how to combine the 3 into 1 file yet, so you're a lil screwed for simplicity. It takes a couple steps instead of one.
Instructions are included in the archive. Basically, flash the firmware, then the LP then the flex.

I just finished this process on my own phone to make sure it works and it does. As the TMO flash I got the flex from wasn't locked, this flex shouldn't be either. I ran it through flex tools and it passed. As my phone is locked to TMO I can't really say if it is or not, so use at own risk. If anything bad happens to you, it ain't my fault. Sorry. You've been warned.

Thanks for sharing that... I'll be trying that first thing in the morning when I get home... now the night is really going to drag on cause I'm gonna be thinking about this...

Posted by: Seedling

Flex Tools Isn't Accurate I ran a Locked Firm Throught it and it said it was unlocked. Did it like on 3 locked firms and it said they were unlocked,

But if your phone already locked and you Flash it with Say a Cingular Locked firmware itll stil;l be lock to T-Mobile, But the good thing is that T-Mo will Give you the Subsidy Lock code If your a Customer for At least 90 Days. And you have to have a T-Mobile V360 (Bought From T-Mobile or its resellers)

Success!!! flashed with Gorgarath's files and everything works fine. Took less than 15 minutes too. I was figuring it was going to take a while. Got iTunes 2.8 running. Does anyone know how to get the non-tmobile edge icon to show?

That is the non-TMO edge icon. Just happens that they apparently didn't specify a differant one than Moto did. The DRM pack is the one that the stock ABR flash came with. There's come custom DRM packs for the v360 out. Cyber is one, not sure the link for it, and with a little know-how, you can pull the one Yuet uses in his modded flash. And those are the only 2 I've found that work on the v360 (unless you want Vodaphone DRM icons? I found them the other day when downloading files from a Russian web site, can't read Russian so was doing basic translation on blocks of text since babelfish didn't want to render the site. The descriptions weren't the most descriptive. *lol*)

I'm working on converting some DRM packs I've found to work on the v360, but that might not get done till the w/e when I have enough time to actually sit down and work on it.

P.S. Actually, I just looked, it's not TMO does change their DRM pack apparently from the stock Moto one in the flash. Seeing DRM0113 for TMO instead of the 101 that came with the stock Moto flash, but I didn't include the TMO DRM icons, so you are seeing the stock Moto ones.

Unless his file locks the phone. In any case, mine's still a locked phone. At least until I get around to having TMO send me the unlock codes for when I head to the islands this summer.

Currenlty I have the stock t-mo icon. After installing the ABR and LP I glanced at the phone and saw an EDGE icon with an E. After installing the t-mo flex it's back to the box with arrows to the top and bottom.

Ahh... Ok, that's because I don't think TMO's firmware registers the differance between EDGE and GPRS by default. You need to seem edit to enable the edge icon. Not sure exactly how well it works, not been in an EDGE area while running TMO flex. Had on stock Moto flex over Easter w/e when I was out visiting the inlaws near Philly, don't get EDGE back home.

So is the firmware in post 26 locked or not?

As far as I can tell, it's unlocked. But not having an unlocked phone, I can't verify. It's the same flex from the first post which the OP said was unlocked, so based on that information, I would say the flex I posted is also unlocked.

Unfortunately, I currently have no way of verifying this on my own though. Anyone know TMO's stance on how long you have to be a customer before giving unlock codes? Namely, will they give it to you if you just renewed your contract or do you have to wait a period of time after renewing first? In any case, they better give me one by the end of next month so I can use my phone when I head out of the country this summer for a short vacation for my bro's wedding. (Also need to look into pre-paid SIM's too I suppose. Forgot about that part till just now. *lol* Don't feel like paying the roaming charges on that one. )

EDIT>> Personally I don't know why you'd want the TMO flex anyway. I mean, yeah it's what's on my phone right now, but that's only because I put it back on to make sure that the process I gave worked for at least me and I haven't had a chance to re-flex it yet. (Been playing around with skins. Figure don't have to worry about erronious files this way since it's all coming back off.) Only thing I can see replacing the TMO firmware for is to return the phone to TMO, but in that case, why worry if the phone gets locked to them if you're just giving it back?

Posted by: moeava

Did the seem edit for the EDGE icon, but it didn't change anything. Oh well... Is there any problem if I install the abr flash, lp, but no t-mo flex... Would the phone still work, just not with any of the t-mo stuff?

That would work as well. It's what I'm going to do once I get some time to flash it after I stop playing around with various settings. Just flash one of the ABR monster packs and then flash the LP0003 if you want US English. All you have to do is head to TMO's site and have them send you the websession settings and MMS settings. Or install them manually. If you want to use Wireless Village for AIM, YIM, and/or ICQ (I think ABR has the settings for Yahoo by default, not sure) I have a post earlier in this thread for the WV files from the TMO flex.

Posted by: moeava

So I did the abr and lp flashes, and I'm not really that impressed. It makes me realize that I dont really mind the tmo flex, so in the morning when I get home t-mo flex is going back on. Actually I couldn't get iTunes running... Its installed but I couldn't get the short cut to work (both by makig the shortcuts and then uploading the edited seem). Also DAP isn't working. Entered all the setting for email, and haven't been able to successfully get email. So back to t-mo and i'll do seem edits for the few features that I want.

One thing that I"m wondering about is without the tmo flex under the connections menu there's a sync option. Anyone able to enlighten me on this. It asks for a URL, username and password, and path for datebook and phonebook.

Posted by: Seedling

To get teh Subsidy Code Wait 90 days Starting from the day you activated the service. Just say i was Messing around with my phone and i stubmled to Subsidy Lock it.

T-Mo Flex can only work with iTunes 1.9

Posted by: gorgarath

Hehe. My TMO flex has the Sync function... It's there, but TMO seem edit's it out of the menu. Forget the seem offhand since p2kMenu Editor lets me just click on the box to enable it It uses an open standard (SyncML) to syncronize your phone with a web service. Check out Mobical. The v360 allows for phonebook and calendar/tasks syncronization. So after every time I flex, I go connect to mobical (after dropping my websession file in) and it takes about a minute and I've got my phonebook and calandar entries. Works great for when I'm bored at work and decide to play. Intresting thing I've noticed on the TMO flex though, when I seem edit Sync back in, there's an entry titled "T-Mobile Sync". I've been meaning to see what I can do with it, guess it's time to tinker. Be back in a bit. ^_^

EDIT>> All that's in there is the URL... http://syncml.t-mobile.com/syncml and the data path for the phonebook, doesn't include the data path for datebook. Also doesn't include username or password, gonna have to take a peek at my girl's phone later since it hasn't been touched yet. (Well, barely. I only did a few little things, but it's still the original TMO flex.) Maybe hers might have a username & password listed. In the meantime though, need to attempt some electrical re-wireing for my stove.

Posted by: gorgarath

Umm... about those WVIM settings... Seems I forgot to add a few files or so to the archive. Got most of them, just none of the emoticons located in /c/mobile/pictures... So I went and updated the file, still in the same place. And this time just for kicks, the MD5 hash is: 802E4ADEA49959F3B07672A64E650781 in case you wanted to know. And if you didn't see the link on the previous page, over here. Mirrors are always welcomed, though I don't think too many people will be needing this file.

Well I looked around a bit and saw that Yahoo supports syncml. They have a guide on setting it up at mobile.yahoo.com. Followed the guide, but haven't been able to get it to work. The username field only allows for 23 characters and my yahoo username is 29 characters (its an email address). I tried just entering the first part of the email address (no @sbcglobal.net), but then i get an error "server not responding".

I just flashed/flexed with the file in post #23 and now it seems that no matter what i set my ringtone to it always plays T-jingle. Anyone know what's up?

Posted by: Seedling

Theres 2 ways to set a ringtone, goto the file itself and click the "Menue Button" (the one at the very top of the keypad) then "set as ringtone"

Or

Goto Setting>Audio or Ringstyles

then goto

"Loud Detail"

then select the ringtone

Posted by: bballgd111

Even when the ringtone selected in ring detail menu ("Loud Detail") is selected, T-jingle still plays. This also goes for the sound selected for the "Messages" sound. Although it doesn't play T-jingle, it still doesn't play what i selected. It seems like it is set at a default.

I've tried going into the sounds menu, highlighting a ringtone, pressing menu, and Apply As Ringtone. Still no luck. There isn't anything wrong with the ringtone i select, i tried this with default ones along with ones i created.

Its weird because i just starting having this problem after i flashed/flexed with the ABR firmware. The main reason i flashed with ABR is to have the ability to set sounds on my memory card as ringtones. Now i can't get any ringtones to work. Help?

Hi Everyone,
I'm having a hellofa time trying to put iTunes on my V360... Motomidman just won't see my phone even when my moto in modem mode for the USB, the drivers installed from the latest Motomidman, and i'm still SOL...

Soooo does anyone know of a firmware out there that has all the t-mo network settings, itunes, and is unlocked? i know this may seem like a tall order but i'm about to give up and just deal with the fact that my phone will remain stock...

Thanks, Timmay

Posted by: moeava

What I have to do to get motomidman to recognize my phone is to have flashbackup running in the background.

Not sure if there's a MP for the v360 with iTunes already on it (haven't really been taken by the iTunes craze yet...), but if there is, just flash with that, delete the websession file, delete the MMS profile settings, and then use the OTA Configurator to send the network settings over. (Has like 3 copies of my websessions file, but always ends up using the configurator for some reason. And I always have to do a search to find it to *lol*)

Yes, yes I know you meant 26, but still it's late and I get a bit sillier than normal after hours so cut me some slack. All in all, that's kind of an odd instance. I've not tried changing my ring-tones when I flashed my phone with it since I wasn't planning on keeping the TMO flex. I'll go ahead and reflash to it and see if it happens to me or not.

EDIT>> Flashed it to my phone again. Works fine. No troubles changing the ringtones... Unless you're having issues with changing ringtone to one on the TF... Didn't try that. Just a moment...

EDIT2>> Nope, no troubles setting it to a ringtone on the TF either. Not sure why it's not working for you. All I can think of is start over, maybe something went screwy when you flashed. Remember seeing some other post about reformating a TF card because of something not working with it, but I can't remember what the problem was or if reformating it worked or not. Not much help I know, sorry.

I am a N00b to the bored but experienced in flashing, anyways I tried the new flash version and was having Ringtone issues as well with only the T-Jingle ringtone no matter what ringtone was set, so I installed the original T-mobile flash posted originally and my phone has been rebooting consistantly. Am I missing something or should I try and reflash the phone?
Thanks

just got a v360 unlocked from howardforums.com.com updated the firmware to R4513_G_08.B7.ABR with flex SE4877AXXE112B phone runs outstanding did try the tmobile firmware and let me tell you wasnt too pleased with it so I had seedling just send me that new monsterpack. Menus are sooo fast. Seem edited to have quad band. CHanged thr drm icons, increased phone memory to about 7 mbs still workin on to hot at least 9. Didnt get no memory card with the phone so I could do that i-tunes thing yet but I m gettin one this weekend and my next project is to add itunes. Also I wanted to add aim to my phone hearing alot of things goin around about it but nothin clear on how to add it to my phone. Not really that good with seem editing just know the the bascis. ANother thing is i wonnia enable the phone to keep recording videos instead of just stopping. SOmetimes it says I have 33 remaing and it records for 15 seconds sometimes 5 seconds. Is there anyway to just have it record to its max until I run out of memory.

Can anyone confirm whether itunes 2.8 (or any other version other than 1.9) will work with the t-mobile flex + ABR on an originally t-mo branded v360. I have been using itunes 1.9 and it works great with my 256mb tf but I am getting a 1gb card and the 99 song limit is not going to be sufficient. Now i am sure that it will install and open but will it actually play songs. I can install it now but when I try to play a song i get an application error. I am happy with the t-mo flex and 86r. I just hate the limit. So if it works please let me know.
Thanks

Yeah, it works. Got it running on mine. I have 217 songs on mine right now, but still have another 225 mb of my 1bg tf. That was my whole reason for going with ABR firmware.

Try deleting secure_pds_init on /a/mobile/system/

Then going to greeting on the phone and deleting it. Just out of interest was your Phone orignally locked?

Ok I got a message after trying to flash my v360 that shows the firmware in the boot loader screen and then says CODE Corrupt and the phone just powers on to the bootloader screen any way of fixing my v360

Posted by: rivvah

So I decided to whack around my V360 (sits in the drawer as a backup to my N6682), and flashed the ABR monsterpack and then the LP003 - everything works as usual, I went off seem editing to get all the goodies configured as usual.

Now, for some reason I *cannot* get offset seem 0032 5F bit 6 to work:

offset 5F - bit 6: Webaccess > Web Sessions > Menu > Set Default (1 on, 0 off)

I've enabled this on a lot of Motos I've flashed (e398, v3, v180/v188/v220, v400, v551, etc) and it's always worked fine. Doesn't seem to work now though -- does anyone else have it working on theirs?

I had an unlocked v360 after flashing with the tmobile flex in the first post the 86r one It became locked. Is there any way to unlock again without having to use a testpoint or something like smart clip?

Posted by: tomhltzmn

i found RSD Light. But when i open it and press show device it does not show my phone. any help.

Posted by: tomhltzmn

where can i get a firmware/flexflash that has the "say a command" rather than programming the voice names into my phone?

Posted by: avatar1973

ker7099 your post will most likely disappear. You can't post links that lead to warez.

Great thread, however I cant get my v360 to read my new 2GB sandisk miniSD card. The phone failed formatting it, so I tried my USB card reader and formatted to FAT. Phone still wont read card, says unformatted. Does 2GB work on this phone?

I think the biggest was 512. Haven't actually tried it but I know I read that somewhere.

1gb cards work, not sure about 2gb. was thinking of getting one soon to try it out

Posted by: v360guy

Im still not having any luck.

I just downloaded Flash Backup, and by the way that program is a little buggy when performing full backups. Sometimes it gets to the end and says backup done by the dumb little window stays popped up and never closes. It freezes at times. I got my backup tho so I should be good.

There has got to be a hack to get this phone to read 2GB cards.

This phone came with R4513_G_08.B7.86R and I think that's the latest version out.

Thinking of trying out the monster pack, maybe that will get it to read the 2GB card. Not sure what else to do. Tmobile reps at three places told me it will work with the 2GB card, and one of the reps said I would need to upgrade something but he wasnt specific.

I called Motorola and the rep was an asian dum-dum. She tell me same ting ova and ova, we onee sell 512MB card. lol.

My phone came with R4513_G_08.B7.B7R, I believe this is more current than the R4513_G_08.B7.86R.

Are there any T-mo branded MPs out with this software, B7R, and the NA155 (I think) flex?

Posted by: rallen539

Does anyone have the R4513_G_08.b7.AER??? I need it to hopefully un-brick my V360. Thanks.

Hey, could someone please help me get this stock T-Mobile V360? It took me forever to finally find a link to it, and then rapidshare keeps saying that all their drives are full and won't let me download it. If someone has it or knows where else I can get it, could you please help me out? Thanks.

Posted by: budmanbr

I need that firmware too!! Can anybody reupload it to rapidshare or pm me? tks

Posted by: gorgarath

I'll see if I can find the TMO flex I have and reupload it to rapidshare. At work now, so expect it in about 9 8 hours if I remember when I get home. Or if I can find it online, sooner. Or later if I have trouble finding it of course. Not sure if I have a copy at home, think I lost it when my drive crashed.

Posted by: ker7099

I don't have the 86R firmware but I do have the file that gorgarath uploaded back in April with the ABR firmware, US English pack, and T-Mo flex. Click here to download if it will help you out.

Posted by: budmanbr

thanks a lot ker7099! you saved my phone!

Posted by: newertomoto

Yeah, thanks for putting that up. I had the original Tmo flex but lost it when my old computer died. Still trying to find it now that imagefap doesn't have it anymore.

Posted by: gorgarath

Hehe, thanks for posting that, I can't seem to find it on my computer either. Musta only been on my hard drive that crashed. Thought I had it saved on my one site, but it wasn't there either.

Posted by: ker7099

no big deal, glad i was able to help.

Posted by: n3rxs

I need the T-Mobile MP for the v360 and all the rapidshare links are dead now. Can someone please repost it for me?
