anyone know? I mean I heard that 700w just had the Windows OS and the camara on the phone was megapixel rather then vga..but what about the 700P? I mean the OS is gonna be the same and it looks slighty different but what else would be different?

I hear 2 things for the P version, one it will have Cobalt the new palm OS but I have also heard that Palm dropped there OS and went to a Linux platform (great idea) and that is what it will be so I guess when it becomes official we will know.

from what I hear the new 700p will use the lastest version on the palm Os and better camera with evdo support. I couldnt hold out so I got the 650 to tide me over.

I am hoping for better bt implementation. The treo 650's BT was horrible. I love my 650 but I refuse to use the BT in it when it comes to a headset.

Yeah im hoping it has a bunch of stuff worth getting rid of my Treo650 for..I mean if its just gonna have a couple of new features..then I think im gonnna stick with my 650 for a while.

I am patiently awaiting the next Treo for GSM, whatever it may be. I have been following treo central and there is nothing concrete yet. I am hoping for an announcement in the next month or so.

I highly doubt it will be Linux-based, lol...
And Cobalt has pretty much become a pipe dream. It'll have Garnet. If it has Cobalt, I'll eat my hat. It'll have EVDO, better BT, MP camera, more internal memory, and some OS tweaks here & there. Not much different, but I'm still saving my pennies.

I agree with Kabuki
It will definitely have Garnett (OS5). And the only big improvement will be EVDO.
It will have a better camera, BT 1.2 (hopefully with voice dial from a headset, and A2DP), and the much rumored Blackberry Connect that is supposedly in testing with the carriers.
I would hope it will have a faster processor and more memory but realistically I wouldnt count on either.

Actually I WOULD count on more memory, I've read specs that say it will be equivalent to the 700w. The processor will still be 312 mhz though, same as the 700w as well. Which is fine with me, as I have never found my 650's processing power to be lacking.

I am with Kabuki too.
Things which made me switch from 600 to 650 were better screen and BT (well, it's horrible, but definetely better than nothing
). And the biggest thing which piss me off is the memory. I think PowerRun fixed this, at least partially.
Can't think of anything that I really care that will make me pay another $600+.
1. Not a better camera for sure. I have my Nikon.
2. Not a better BT. I am not a big fan of have something hanging on my ear all the time. Too geeky
3. More memory? Maybe, although not likely.
4. Internal Wi-fi support? Now, that will be sweet! Beat that Enfora hand down
- well, I will bet it's a daydream again, based on Palm's past records.

And with another EVDO upgrade coming (Rev.A), that might be worth waiting on too. SURELY. Palm/Sprint would have an upgrade path for that - right??
WiFi support - SURELY #2 - if Palm put it in the W, it would be in the P - right??
Well, I just got my 650 about 3 weeks ago - I decided to wait and see until next year- that and the fact I paid under $100 for my 650.

I would hope it comes with a much better BT system! The 650 BT is teh suck.

700w with Wi-Fi? News to me. I do know that Palm makes a wi-fi SD card that will allow the 700w to access wi-fi, but there is no built-in wi-fi on the phone. I'd be happy if Palm wired the 700p to accept the wi-fi SD card. Don't understand why wi-fi is incompatable with the Palm Treo's.

sorry, should have been more clear - didn't say "built-in", said "support". support for wifi in sd slot. Yes, you have to buy the SDIO card, but it sure beats a sled.
