I'm planning on applying for a sales position at my local Cingular store, so I have a few questions. I was wondering whether I should apply online and wait for the call? Should I simply walk in and talk to the manager? Or both?

I work as customer care for a GSM provider and applied for a CDMA provider for store sales. I didn't even get an interview. I'm assuming it's because i highlighted my wireless knowledge and not enough sales. in regards to your resume, i'd just suggest highly pushing any sales experience.

are you lazy?
do you show up to work on time?
do you realize lunch has a specific timeframe and its not based on what you want? (ie, 30 min lunch int 1.5 hr lunch break)
are you clean? (as in, work enviroment surrounding you doesnt look like a warzone)
if you said no to any of these, dont apply.

Yes apply online and then call.

Alfred_Neuman: I'm not lazy. I always show up on time or even early. Since I usually don't eat/work through lunch, having a specific time doesn't matter to me. I'm very clean and organized.
ivwshane: I think I will go to the store early tomorrow since it's down the street. Hopefully, the manager will be there, so I will be able to speak to him/her.

If you want to take crap all day long from cretin/ degenerates then by all means work at Crapular Wireless . You will lose your manhood in a few months and never be the same again .
Then you will start drinking after work to shake all those ugly faces and low IQ's you had to deal with in your 8 hour shift from your brains memory banks etc etc
It is a nightmare thats why they can't hang onto any staff ( huge turnover rate just like their customer base I might add !! ) and are always LOOKING for new recruits for the front lines .
Think about it !!!!

You have to deal with difficult customers all of the time in retail. It's not isolated to Cingular. I think if you can't handle the pressure of dealing with people who are angry or just dumb then you shouldn't work in a position where you have to speak with people in the first place, but that's pretty much every job out there.
