BitPim with MM-9000?

Hello all.

I just got a MM-9000, and discovered the wonders of BitPim. I've been able to get everything I need off of my SCP-5500, but I can't connect to my 9000 with BitPim. I know that it's not an officially supported phone, but I can't find a way for BitPim to even try to talk to it. When the USB gets plugged in, the phone prompts to choose between PictBridge, Mass Storage, and Modem/Standby. All of the modes work fine, but BitPim won't communicate with the phone in any of the modes. I have installed all of the Sanyo drivers, and still no joy. Any thoughts?

Just in case anyone is wondering, I know that I can use something like FunForMobile to download most of the stuff I want to transfer to the 9000. The main reason I want to use BitPim is to get my MSL code, and just to poke around in the guts of the phone.

BTW - I've found everyone on here to be unbelievably helpful. Thanks everyone!

I haven't been able to get bitpim to work with my 9000 but the USB Data Suite does.

With all the help I've gotten from here, it's nice to be able to help someone!

To start, get a cable for your phone. The 9000 (if it's the Sanyo MM-9000) should have come with a USB cable. If you don't have one, hit up www.3gcables.com. The cable will work with both phones.

Next, download USB drivers from Sanyo, at http://www.sanyo.com/consumer/commu...ver_install.htm.

You can interface with the phones using BitPim, which will work with both phones, and move phonebooks, pix, ringers, etc. from one to the other. You can download it at www.BitPim.org.

As far as using the 9000 as a modem, go to http://www.sprint.com/pcsbusiness/s...loads/index.jsp, and download the "Sprint PCS Connection Manager for Phone as Modem/USB cables". As long as you have the drivers above installed, your phone should work as a modem, at DSL/Cable modem speeds.

Keep in mind that unless you have a PAM (phone-as-modem) plan, using this a lot will piss off Sprint, and they may cut you off. Occasional use hasn't gotten me in trouble so far.

If you just want to get numbers off the phone to the other one, a Sprint Store will usually do it for you. Some don't have software that supports the 9000, but if you call them first, it shouldn't be a problem.

Hope this helps!

Hopefully I'll have time sometime soon to try these things.

No problem. I'm happy to help. Just for the record, I solved the initial problem that I posted about. Even though I had installed all the drivers, windows had a yellow (!) next to the phone in device manager. Letting windows search for the driver fixed the problem, and it works fine in BitPim. The only thing that doesn't work is viewing the filesystem which means I can't get my MSL code. The folks over at Mobile Files have a thread going about filesystem/MSL/SCP issues with the 8300 and 9000. http://www.howardforums.com/forum/s...ead.php?t=13936 A lot of it is ppl trying to change ESN's, but if you're technically-minded, there's some interesting info.

BitPim doesn't support the MM-9000. Have you been able to read and write the 9000 phonebook using BitPim? If so, please contact the BitPim developers with information about how you got it to work so that they can possibly add support for the 9000.

Do you know if the M1 can be used like the old phones to connect to the internet, as long as you don't use it a lot its ok?
