Unbranded SLVR L7 "Insert SIM" error

I have an unbranded SLVR L7 that I am using with Cingular. I don't have any mods going, and lately I have been getting ! errors that say "Insert SIM". Once I turn off the phone and power it back on, it is fine again.

Does anyone know the cause of this and possible solutions?

Try wiping the SIM and reseating it.

Most likely a bad sim - if you search the forum you'll find much info regarding the bad gemplus 64k cingular orange and white chips. call cingular and tell them the problem - they should set you up with a new one.

Thanks for the help. The comments made me a take a better look at where my SIM was seated and I realized the thing was not properly locked down, so it was moving around in the phone causing the error.
