Here's an 8700r glitch for you

I'm part of an established real estate team, with two of us having 8700r's on hosted Exchange and BES.

I'm the unofficial tech expert for the team so the other team member brought her 8700r to me last week when the ringer volume was suddenly very low, regardless of profile settings etc. -- she was missing calls all day long.

I'll spare you the details of the trouble shooting I went through, suffice to say I tried everything I could think of. Two hours of trouble shooting with Rogers on the phone and they had no clue, even after a complete OS re-install. In the end they couriered out a new 8700 the next day and all was well.

Today my 8700 started with the same deal: Regardless of profile settings etc., when you called the phone the ringer volume was next to zero. I've finally just figured out that if you use the speaker phone, and happen to turn the volume way down, then hang up, the ringer volume will now be relative to the volume you last used on the speaker phone.

Just wanted to make everyone aware of the issue. FWIW, I haven't tried updating the OS on my 8700 to see if this issue has been addressed with firmware/software etc only b/c it's the long w/end and my BES admin won't be available till Tuesday to reactivate the BES after doing so, I need my BB for work.

Apologies if this has already been addressed in the forums, I did a quick search and didn't come accross anything.

Cheers, SF

thnx for the heads up.. by the way
what firmware version do u have?? that might be resolved with a newer FW

newer firmware will definately fix the problem... 8700 is still new... If you guys complain that the ringer is too soft I know how to add an amp in the phone to make the ringer EXTREAMLY loud!

Well actually , OS reload wont fix it , you have to place a call and put the volume to maximum on speakerphone , then hang up the call and the ring volume will be back to normal. its a glitch , but its the only way i found to fix it
