the smt5600 should be relatively inexpensive now

Are you talking with contract or without? Cuz with a contract you can get some for free or $50. I think Amazon is doing the brand new Cingular 2125 for like $100 or less with a new 2yr contract with Cingular. Of I've seen lots of ther places with the SMT5600 for free.

What's inexpensive to her? Some of us here think $400 for a smartphone is worth it (it better be pretty nice) while others of us might top out at $100...

If an older windows smartphone could do, check out the moto mpx200 (not the 220, the 200). I have the 5600 and it's great and you can find those on the Bay for $150 and up.

When you buy, make sure you get the sync cable and the activesync cd - older windows smartphones run earlier versions and i don't know if you can still download them online.

Would she consider Symbian os smartphones?

eBay...you can get an MPx220 for around $150 new...I had to resort to that after an MPx220 I bought from a friend wouldn't unlock...
Great phone, but ringers are a little too low for my taste

Well, i guess that means the voq is out.
I really do like mine though, and the keyboard is really nice to have. I just wish it had bluetooth.

Cute, well I guess small might equal "cute"... so I would have to also say the smt5600. I had this when it was just new and its a GREAT phone.

Now they should be had pretty cheap. Mabey go slightly used...
