Razr V3 External LCD Backlight

Has anyone, after setting offset 1D bit 0 to ON on a V3, actually had the external LCD backlight turn on indefinitely after flip close? I've received confirmation that it does work on the V400 and V551, but can't seem to get it to do so on my V3.
