I don't get reception anywhere with the Seimens s40.... does anyone know why... I'm on the Rogers Network and I bought one of those stupid sticker things but it hasn't worked AT ALL!!!
But it's really really horrible and I hate it because my calls get cut off, i can't make calls most of the time and all it's good for is the T9 text messaging which is so easy to use.
please let me know if there is anything I could do...

Uhmm... the S40 i used has decent reception compared to other phones i've used...
i used the S40 in Canada on Fido, and also in Hong Kong as well... and it's worked find in both places.
blame it on the network maybe and not the phone??

Hmmmmm not sure why you would get no reception. When I was using the s40 I used it in Canada on Fido aswell as Rogers AT&T and It worked amazing!! In the US I was using a Cingular sim and iI even tried my friends voice stream (nowadyas tmobile if I am not mistaken)and it worked fine. I wouldn't bother with those signal boosters they never work in any phone. I tried that with a few Nokias and an Ericcson back in the day never any improvement.

Haha, yet anothe pointless post, with a person pointing the blame at the wrong person. And I just might have taken you seriously if you didn't bring up the fact that you were gullible enough to buy one of those utterly retarded sticker "antenna" things. HAHAHAHA. Post wisely.

it's the network that's the problem..
GSM is still new, esp. Rogers' network, which is prob. worst than Fido's GSM network...
When I took the phone to Europe, the reception was good... and the battery life even lasted longer too!!

I've always had great reception with my s40 on Rogers and Fido. In Europe I use a Vodafone sim and all calls are clear. The only time I had probs with the s40 and reception was on AT&T in the U.S. When I was roaming on Cingular or using my friends TMobile Sim the reception was great.

From what I heard there should be a setting in the phone (somewhere) that lets you choose which frequencies the phone looks for. As a default it will look for all three, try setting it so that it will search for just 1900. See if that helps.

If you think the reception of your S40 is bad, try a T68/i, you will glad you have the S40.
