E-mailing ringtones...???

So I just got the Ringtone Maker 2 program. I made a ringtone and tried to send it as an MP3 and an MID file to the phone. Motorola Phone Tools let it transfer, but the phone itself said the file was corrupt.

New plan. I sent an e-mail from my cricKet phone to my e-mail, which was successful. I sent a plain, new message with the tone attached (both as an MID and MP3 file) to the phone. Phone recieved MMS Message and downloaded it, but did not play, and when I tried to save the file, it said "Format Not Recognized".

My Mom has a Moto V3c Razr on Alltel. She sent a picture to me through e-mail, which was successful. I sent a plain, new message with the tone attached (both MP3 and MID) to her phone. Her phone, however, recieves the message as an SMS message...not a MMS Message.

What is going on with this? My dad has a Motorola V265 on Alltel, and I have the same model V265 on cricKet. Both phones are on a CDMA network. I've tried Motokit, P2K, and other programs, all to which have failed on me. Why did Motorola lock out the V265? Help me guys, Ive burned myself up trying to figure this out...

Not sure about alltel, but for Verizon... to send an sms message to a phone you do Number@vztext.com... for MMS send to number@Vzwpix.com...

If you send an email to the phone as number@vztext.com with a sound attached.. the message will come across but the sound wont work right, and can't be stored/used as a ringer.

So maybe that is happening for you??

MotoKit, P2KManager, P2KCommander, etc.. are all hacking tools for GSM phones... unfortunately... IF they work, they don't always work properly with CDMA phones...

You might want to pop-over to the alltel section here, or check out some of the V265 threads in the Verizon/Moto section...

For the Verizon model anyway... you can seem edit the V265 to enable the use of MPT's MultiMedia studio with the phone... the Seem is 041A, just like on the V710... Bytes 7A, offset 6A, bit 0... set this value =1, or check the box... More info on the seem edit process, use the link in my sig...
