VX9800 Randomly rebooting...

My phone will randomly reboot upon hitting "send" about every 4-10 txt messages and every 20th call or so.
Does anyone else have this problem? I have a service plan with Best Buy, and after being re-directed to all the wrong places, they had me call 1888-Best-Buy and the tech said I needed a new battery... That makes zero sense if you understand physics at all.
Then he transferred me to the parts department where they said, "We don't know how to get a battery for that, so just order one directly from the manufacturer, and we'll re-imburse you when you send in all of the receipts to P.O Box.. " - Yeah right.
Is this something that I can fix by upgrading the software release? Or does this need a replacement?

are u runing firmware 1.0,1.1, or 2.0 1.90 has a lot of issues and soon or later your phone will crash as for you phone rebooting it probally a defect call verizon see if they can fix it other than that its a paper weight or you memory could be full or its letting you know that you dont have a good signal
