Samsung sgh p857

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello,

I just got my Samsung SGH P850 last week and have been ready to snap being i am using solely 850mhz band in my area on cingular so i am constantly roaming on t-mobile which the signal is great and i have free roaming but i work at a hospital and 1900mhz is not strong enough to pass through all the brick and my p850 is triband, and then i heard that the p857 will be quad band and out for cingular supposively this spring. Is there something i can do to enable the 850mhz band or possibly upgrade the firmware to enable it with the p857 firmware or is that a hardware issue?

Or even the possibly use the sgh d820 firmware?

Any info would be appreciated sorry if i posted in wrong subject.

It's a hardware issue. There is no 850Mhz receiver in your P850. Even if you were to try another firmware that supports the 850Mhz band, it won't do any good without 850Mhz receiver in the hardware.

Strange enough i could read every word.. ha ha

Well what if it is really a quad band but they didnt put the software on for quad band yet.,

When i look inside under the battery it doesn`t state it is a tri band and in every samsung i have seen under the battery says the band capabilities.

I can keep being delusional i suppose but i am sure you are right. thanks for the info.

If it is a triband phone, it will always be a triband phone. You can not do anything to change it. That is why everyone on this forum says not to buy triband phones for use on Cingular.

Well i do know that they cripple certain phones so you cannot use the extra bands on purpose sometimes which happens alot with motorola quad bands,so that is why i ask.
