reciving emails through pop server "connecting" then says cannot resolve pop3

i have tested this on a different treo and it works but on this particualr treo 650, when u set up an email account, and then "get" it will not resolve the incoming mail server, but i test identical settings and it works.
aside from the device being somehow buged any ideas?
