I just posted a link to the manual in the other thread. When you get it up and running please post what you think. Have you put any photos on the phone yet ? I am curious if it shows full screen wallpaper ?
Cheers, LL-

The included wallpaper is very limited and I don't like any of them. I have not put anything besides that yet. if you have suggestions on how to do this, let me know.

I have only done it with my SE phones so I don't know how it would be with the Toshiba.
I just use the USB cable that came with the phone and hook it to the computer and download random pictures and use them as my wall paper.
Say if you go on Google images and see a picture you like just right click on it and go down to "save as" and save it in your "pictures" folder.
Then go to the pictures folder and click on the picture and on the left hand side it should say something like "Move picture to" and then I just send them to the phone which is shown as a removeable device.
I'm sure it's different for everyone but you get the picture (no pun intended).
Give it a shot, let us know what happens.
Cheers, LL-

yah can put up your own wall lpapers on the 904T. thats not a probl hoever. you can';t load up your own themes

Posted by: dkny_boi

It'd be easier to tell you about the phone if there were some more things in particular you wanted to know about. Because general, how is the phone? Well it's good

Posted by: Timsta

lol. haha.. thats such a generic answer chris :P.. tell us more!!

Posted by: lamplighter

Yeah, I guess it was a little vague. As you have told me wallpapers are downloadable, but are they full screen ???
If the phone is Voda.. branded then I assume it has the Voda.. bar at the bottom, is this the case ?
I am more interested in the customization of the phone, I can't imagine it compares to the SE in that dept. but it is a great looking phone. But no downloadable themes kind of blows.
The only other thing I am interested is in the music capability, what formats, disc 2 phone type software, expandable memory ?
I am also just gonna go and download a copy of the user manual anyway and check it out for myself.
The main thing as I was wondering is are wallpapers shown full screen, or are they chopped off at the bottom (or top) ?
Thanks very much to everyone, LL-
I usually don't ask these kind of cloudy questions, I'm gonna have to go check one out for myself. Thats the only way to know !!!!

Posted by: dkny_boi

Hehehe, well sorry tim, but you of all ppl should know just how much time i've had to mess around with it

Yeah the wallpapers are fullscreen (nothing chopped off top or bottom). And the bar at the bottom, it's not the voda bar that you're thinking of, how they did it now is both the softkeys are transparent (but you still see the voda logo on the right one). You can turn off the clock and the operator logo so all you'd having blocking the picture is the outline of the softkeys (and the small envelope and voda "O" in them), and the miscellaneous icons up top (signal/battery meter, etc).

And no, no downloadable themes, just the 4 preset ones... i can take pictures later on of them and how the wallpaper would look as well as a video of the cool 3D pictogram thing when you receive text msgs.

Music... you use the Beat Engine program, and it converts to a proprietary format (.tbd extension i believe). Mini-sd slot, so far it's been tested up to 1gb, not sure if a 2gb stick would work. I haven't been able to even try out how good it sounds since the phone didn't come with a mini-sd nor do i have one lying around

Posted by: lamplighter

Mmm Mmm good !!! Thanks dkny.. This is actually sounding better and better. I like the full screen WP thingy, and expandable mini SD sounds good to me as well. It is such a great looking phone, thinking of green or red, pop on some grat lookin wallpaper and turn the cover around so the wallpaper is on top and you have a great looking mobile !!!
I actually went down to my Voda.. guy a couple of days ago and asked if he could order one (Knowing full well that they could'nt but wanted to hear why anyway).
There are a few dealers here who have them, I'm probably gonna go for it and just ditch my W900 and keep the K750 as a back up dealy.
I found a guy on eBay who has one for sale along with some great screen shots so I have seen some good pictures already, but just the pre set ones.
Might wait untill I get back to Welly-wood to make the move.
Thanks again, Cheers mate ! LL-

hihi,

thinking of getting the 904T also.. can advise on where in HongKong did u get it from? mongkok? any shop to recommend that is value for money?? can pm me?

Posted by: FALCO

...just picked one up.. I could not resist...

I have been playing with it now for a couple of hours... so far:

The RF... is Just as good as the sharp 903. The audio is quite similar as well.

The screen is comparable as well. I find the colours warmer than the sharp.. Some how I like it better.

The build quality... I like the style of the phone, it is indeed bigger than the 903 but lighter... The plastics of the phone have a hollow and cheap feeling... The flip screen is lose when closed and so far has turned to be quite annoying..

The camera is comparable to the Motorola V3x... I will post some pictures later on side by side with the sharp... The quality is not bad but quite poor compared to the Sharp or even SEs... There is no autofocus but it has a hard switch beside the lens for macro mode, which so far has not impressed me at all...

The phone feature set is complete and it is highly customizable.. The phone has 4 themes, support full screen wallpapers..unfortunately no Mp3 playback. The Mp3 player has an excellent equalizer and surround system..A great deal of settings, however I find the maximum volume not that loud..

More later...

Posted by: Timsta

it does have mp3 playback. you just gotta use the beatengine software to convert into toshiba propriertary file format.

thats a great short brief review. tahnks for posting that!

Posted by: FALCO

Sorry for the misunderstanding... Yes I know about the Beat engine thing... I meant straight Mp3 and Mp3 ringtones.... I uploaded some Mp3s straight up and the phone did not recognize them at all.. They were stored in the Other folder...

Posted by: FALCO

...Here are some, keep in mind I took these in a rush and most of them with artificial lighting....

They were taken in auto mode and full resolution...

the pic doesn't seem very clear... did u do anything about the camera setting?

Posted by: FALCO

No... All settings on auto.. Keep in mind I got the phone and started taking pictures.. It is a different interface and not that user friendly... I will take some more day time pictures later...

Posted by: FALCO

I guess I needed to get used to this camera... These pictures are much better... The only adjustment I made was to the colour ouput... There are three settings... from cold to intense... I selected intense. All other settings are on auto....

I'll try to post my thoughts and pics/vids of the phone soon too. Jus been really busy but the phone's great. Only 2 things really bug me is u can't press a letter to skip to a contact in ur phonebook or type sms longer than 160 characters. If someone has a solution to the phonebook thing please share.. I've been playin w the reading name jus to put the most used names at the top of my list

Posted by: Timsta

silly rabbit.. as with every japanese phone u must edit each of your contacts and enter psecial code into them so they sort and search properly

Posted by: dkny_boi

I know, i mean... i've edited it properly so they're stored in order. I've reversed it by putting the first name in the "reading name (last name)" category and vice versa for the "reading name (first name)" so that my phonebook's sorted by first name instead of last name. But anytime i'm in the phonebook and want to skip down to the m's or something, if i press the '6' button for it, the cursor doesn't move to the m's. Have had to scroll through it all manually. I didn't have this problem with my 802SE.

In the manual too, i've seen an image of the phonebook list and it showed that you can also go left/right for different categories or something (the tabs up top), but for mine, the tab is always labelled "Others" and i can't go left/right (the other tabs are just blank instead of labelled as something like in the manual's image)... just up/down through the contacts.

giggles.. haha.. msg me later

i am debating on weather to get this phone or the sharp 903sh. can someone post a comparison between them? like which one is more user friendly, which one takes better pictures, overall impression of both phones...thanks

Posted by: rami_d15

http://www.mml.com.tw/topicdetail.php?f=192&t=73857

i think there is a huge difference in pictures quality between 904t and 903sh

Posted by: Timsta

well. youc an't really compare toshiba to the sharp.. sharp 903 is totally on a different platform.. hence the price differences between the two.

Posted by: fsjon

wow, the picture quality are like the night and day!! i was wondering if i should just get the toshiba one instead since it's cheaper but still has a 3.2mp camera(or so was listed on the vondaphone website). is it really worth it to fork up the extra cash for the sharp over the toshiba??

Posted by: dkny_boi

It'd be worth it if the camera feature is really important to you. It really just comes down to that to be honest.

Posted by: Timsta

yup. thats very true. it depends what your needs are really i guess. gbut the prices differences between the two phones aren't that far apart now

Posted by: in2sky

I am amazed by the differences (pictures). like the toshiba pics are all blurred and sharp's are... sharp! does it have something to do with the fact sharp's got an auto-focus?

Posted by: dkny_boi

It's most likely not the only reason (sharp does use a better sensor overall) but i'm sure it helps out alot. Alot of times i can't seem to find what the best distance away from something is to take a picture and have it perfectly focused. If the camera were alot more important to me, i'd be very disappointed that the 904T doesn't even have an auto-focus feature.

Posted by: in2sky

it's weird. what is the point having a 3.2mp camera if the sensor is bs... I have a V601SH that's only 2mp but boy the pictures are great...

Posted by: Timsta

sharp and toshiba are different.. shouldn't really compare them.. sharps aim was to make a great camear phone. toshiba heads into the audio area.

Posted by: in2sky

but isn't the audio on sharp as good as on the toshibas? correct me if I'm wrong (bad... bad boy...)
