RAZR V3 Vibrate and Ring

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

The manual for the RAZR V3 says that you can make it vibrate then ring by setting a ringtone in the "vibrate only" details. When I set a ringtone for calls in the vibrate only details, it doesn't vibrate. It just rings the ringtone I set. How do I make it vibrate, then ring when I get a call?

Go Menu > Settings > Audio > Style > Vibe then Ring > Vibe then Ring details

Then you can change it there.

There is no "settings, audio, style, vibe then ring....." there is a "settings & tools, sound settings, rings styles, vibrate only detail".

Try rings styles

I've tried. Under ring stlyes I can either change to a different ring stye, or change the ring stye detail. There is a Master Volume, Vibrate Only, Alarm Only, and All Off. Under the details of the Vibrate Only I tried to give it a ring tone, but it doesn't vibrate then, only rings. I've tried giving a vibrate to the Master Volume, but then it only vibrates. I can't seem to get it to vibrate, then ring.

When did you get this RAZR V3? Does it have the Motorola UI on it? The directions I gave you are definitely applicable for my RAZR.

Hmm... on my V3 I have settings for both vibe then ring and vibe AND ring. Two separate ring settings that work fine. What carrier are you with? Maybe that made a difference.

sounds like you have the verizon razr.

i was just talking to my friend a few days ago about the differences in our phone -- mine is unlocked & unbranded -- and she was saying how heres has no 'vibe & ring' it only has alarm, silent... all those things you were listing.

also -- your 2 soft keys & home keys aren't customizable, correct?

Yeah. I have the Verizon model. That sucks I can't vibe & ring.

Verizon,
I actually found the ring/vibrate functionality. You have to set the mode to VIBRATE only and in "Vibrate Detail" select a ring and then it will do both at the same time.
Something else with Verizon, if you set up your voicemail under speed dial 1, for example, and then enter (*86 + ' 2 pauses' + your password) as the actual # to dial, then it automatically enters your # when the voicemail asks for your password, you will only have to hit one button to retrieve your messages.

I've heard a lot of bad things about Verizon tweaking their phones. I didn't think it would be THIS bad!

i know, isn't that just horrible?

i know my phone is ALWAYS on vibe & ring. i can't handle not having that...

with the verizon razr you can seem edit to enable Vibrate THEN Ring... but the CDMA Moto's dont seem to have Vibrate AND Ring no matter who the carrier is.

Would it be possible? Vibe AND ring, simultaneously, in e398? Does any one know?

No "in general" about it. Yes. Verizon uses CDMA.

And unlike the GSM phones, the CDMA Moto's do not have Vibe AND RING... Just Vibe THEN Ring... this holds true for Verizon, Alltel, Telus, Bell, and others.

The Verizon V3C having Verizon's RED UI insted of the standard UI does NOT have Vibe then ring until AFTER You seem edit..

PLUS the volume control with the Red UI is "low" thru "high" not 1-7 like the moto ui... BUT there is a seem edit for that too..

what about the hardware limitation? really none? (i can't try it now cuz my e398 is on tech. assist.) (=
