Anyone know any good cheap backup phones to replace my series of malfunctioning v3's and w600i's? I am thinking more the lines of something like:
Nokia 3595/6010
Samsung x497
SE T237
I have an LG C1300, but I cannot stand it.

Wirelessly posted (whatever the next lines says: Nokia6270/2.0 (03.53) Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1)
Nokia 6010

Highly considering that, Loved my 3595! Any other considerations maybe beyond the list I posted?

They have a Nokia 6030 refurb on the GoPhone site for $29.99. I got one and it's a nice little cheap phone. It's smaller than the Nokia 3595/6010. The screen is really nice and bright on it as well.

I use a Motorola V180 as my phone between phones and as a backup phone.
Pretty nice phone for the price. I did buy it about a year ago for $100 or so new and its still ticking with about 250 hours on the total call timer...
Just switched back to it the other day after a 5 month vacation from it.
My previous backup phone was a V60i
And before that... I can't remember.

I vote against the v180 and the Samsung x497. Crummy screen for the v180 and not particularly impressive RF. The Samsung has above average RF, but a crummy screen, very limited downloads as far as ringers go and the side rocker buttons are so sensitive. My husband is constantly pulling his phone from his pocket and going, "How did I miss three calls? The phone is on silent? Again?" Last time that happened when I was trying to reach him, I chucked that stupid thing across the house. Well, at least the phone is durable.
Now, I've been more impressed with the Nokia 6030, which I understand is comparable as far as RF to the 3595/6010. I don't adore it and it's not a primary phone, only due to a couple little Nokia UI quirks that bug me. But, as a back up phone, for the price it's great. No side rocker buttons, it's a snap to download MP3 ringers (which I'm very partial to ...) and it's pretty loud when it rings plus has a great vibrate motor. I also like the size of it and the aesthetic appeals to me. Plus the RF is pretty good.

6030 probably outdoes the 6010 at this point, I might give one a shot soon.

Can you just slap a Cingular SIM in a GoPhone, and it will work? Does the phone need to be activated or anything?
I vote for the Motorola V70 which wasn't an option, but I think it is a cool phone.

I am in contract, I could go and buy the GoPhone without a "plan"? I was looking at a v70 but the monochrome screen and lack of Mp3 ringtones doesn't impress me. Neither does the "slider" form factor, I have had 2 slider phones and don't care for them.
My favorite phone from all of them (v551, razr, w600i etc... was my 3595. The ONLY thing I didn't like about the phone was the fact that before I wanted all this other stuff like mp3 ringtones, camera, etc... but now that I have them and use them constantly, they lost their appeal. So the 6030 is basically a 3595/6010 with a new body and mp3 ringers? If so, I will have one.

I didn't mean slider either, I stand corrected from myself. "Swivel".
6030 is jumping out at me right now. Is there anything else?

Yes, you can order a GoPhone or buy one at WalMart or whatever your favorite retailer is, take your own SIM and slip it into the GoPhone. When I ordered the x497 from the Cingular Web site in November, it came in a regular box with an inactive pre-paid SIM. I kept the SIM as it's handy for transferring contacts and just checking things on a second phone. But, you can just throw it out, if you like.
One thing that impresses the heck out of me are the MP3 ringers on the Nokia 6030. They're incredibly easy to download, the phone can store quite a few, and they sound pretty good. I ordered the Nokia HS-7 FM tuner headset off ebay yesterday for the phone for $10. You can't even get it from Nokia yet. I listen to the FM tuner on my w600 quite a bit, especially when I forget to bring my iPod to work.
For $50 (I used my husband's upgrade ... ah well, I'll be buying him another phone off ebay anyway) at Radio Shack, it's a solid phone. Being that it is so new, a GoPhone refurb probably isn't a bad idea. For $30, it's not a major loss if you don't love it. I suspect that you will like this phone as much, if not more, than your 3595.

The thing I loved most about my 3595 is the reception. How does it compare, reception wise? Any other things that are alike in the 3595? I loved each and every thing, including the built in ringtones. Please someone tell me, does it have the ringtone box, and rise n shine? I Loved those!

Havent had a nokia since my 3595, and I miss them! Since I have had:
Siemens (c61)
LG (c1300)
Sony Ericsson (z500a)
Motorola (v400, v551, razr number 1 2 and 3) }
More Sony Ericsson (w600i 1 and 2) } Thank the Lord for XBM!
Time to go back I think. Nokia has been the best, out of all of them!

I've got a Moto C115 that i bought as a prepaid phone for $29.99 and it works great as a back up phone, it also got some very good reviews. You can purchase these at Walmart, Target and so on.
Thanks

I will have to agree, i dont really care for the Motorola but for a phone that is barely used(back-up) its not too bad.

Maybe, maybe I will just get a slvr or f9200, if lockline lets me. w600i went through spin cycle. Whoops
