New Motorola Owner Needs Help

I just recently bought a new Motorola SLVR L6...I don't want to do anything fancy with it, except add wallpaper and mp3 ringtones. I have tried without success the last two days to find a way to upload ringtones to my phone. I have followed as many tutorials as I could find in the forums. I have all the following: RSD Lite, Audacity, p2ktools, MPT...After much difficulty I have p2ktools and RSD Lite recognizing my phone's connection through USB. However, whenever I try to connect it to MPT (which is the program i need to upload mp3 ringtones), it won't connect. It asks for either a USB, Bluetooth, or Infrared connection and i click on USB. After searching, the program continues to say "Initializing" and the same process continues over and over again...Any thoughts on how to connect my phone to MPT? And when I am able to get into the multimedia studio i get "unsupported format" when transferring a song to phone. Any help would be appreciated...hopefully i'm just missing something simple...Thanks
