Mobile AIM on V551

When I try signing on to AIM on my V551, I get the following error screen:
Operation failed: Connecting.
It doesn't even seem like it's trying. I have the MEdia Works package. The GPRS icon is on (two triangles with a rectangle).
However the browser does work and I can go to WAP sites like normal. I have checked all the ISP settings and they were correct. I've deleted and re-created the AIM Account at least twice and still no-go.
When I tried to download Mobile IM from the Cingular MEdia Mall WAP site (Categories > Mail & Messaging > Mobile IM > Buy Now > Mobile IM (149K, Version 1.0.04, Vendor ThumbSpeed, Inc. Organization: Cingular Wireless, LLC)), it downloads and installs Mobile IM.jar, however after the installing process says:
Invalid Port
Please help!!!
