E398 R372 to R373 firmware upgrade

Hi, I found on some thread that the right mode to exec this upgrade is:

1) Shoey flash enabler flex "R373 Enabler.hs"
-> Where I can find IT?
2) 42_for_all_CG7_only.shx
-> found on http://www.e398mod.com/content/view/65/30/
3) Now any R373 MP you like
-> I have got this: E398_R373-48R_Revolution_BodyGuard_v2.0.rar

I also try to flash my phone using 42_for_all, but id erase my Bluetooth MAC Address, and I did'nt find any working method to re-fix it!

How can I update my e398 R372 to R373 without erasing my Bluetooth address?

I'd follow this guide,

Hi, I just followed this guide, but when I try to fix the Bluetooth "bug" my phone don't start and the BootLoader return to display my old Firmware (R372xxx)!

I'm using FlashBackup to make backups and also for Flashig!

I went from:

R372_xxxxxxx_59R (origial)

R372_xxxxxxx_95R_A (v398v4 MP)

R373_xxxxxxx_42R (following this guide)

and tring tofiw Bluetooth fixing I used my original PDS backup (from R372_xxxx_59R, non v398 backup)

What can I do?

you can find the shoey flash enabler in his original i398 MP at 3398mod.com. If you use the 42_for_all_CG7_only, it shouldn't mess with your bluetooth address, this was only a problem with the original 42_for_all.

Thanks for the info Aircraft800! I just download Shoely i398 MP, and I found the file that I need.

Do you know if is that the right method to upgrade from R372 to R373 my e398?

What about "not original" 42_for_all that don't clean my BlueTooth address? I found only MP that were based on the original one...

the different with 42r_for_all with another mp is that 42r for all contain cg6 (pds hack so e398 can use rokr f/w) and cg7 (sw upgrader, so old pds can be restored to the new mp)

cg 6 is the one that make the bluetooth add & h/w versio changed

Hi R960XT, I saw your reply on my othr thread, thanks for the infos! :-) I'd like to know if the method that i posted in my first post is correct to pass ro R373! Did you ever try it?

Now I'm charging my phone and tomorrow I'll try your method! I found Shoely MP here: http://modyomoto.com ...

In that site I found some MP that explicitly (sorry for my english) sais that they doesn't contain CG6: does them let me pass from R372 from R373 without losing Bluetooth address? I'm talking about these:

R960XT: I followed your suggestions and it worked!

I have a R373 working with the original Bluetooth address without need to fix PSD!

1. FLEXED with Shoely "R373 Enabler.sh"
2. Flashed to PCMMOD_1.7 MonsterPack (R373_xxxx_70R)
3. Flashed to BodyGuard v3.0 MP (only to test it)
4. Flashed to Bodyguard v2.0 MP (I like this more than 3.0)
5. Flashed my LanguagePack (R373_00039.shx)

it works! :-)
now I try to change some icons and skyns... any suggestions?

to change drm :
use shxcodec to split the mp u want and then edit the drm icon manually.
this is the drm map.
this is the guide to edit the drm.

to change the skins simply use skin manager

yes, the 42-for-all method erases the bt address.
but if you have original pds backup, just parse (pdstool) the backup file in it and copy file (seem) 00ab to any other folder. delete the rest of the seems (u need to close pdstool so that u can erase the directory).
get a current pds backup with functional itunes and parse its backup compressed file too. put the 00ab file above together with the other current seems.
assemble it again like the http://mirror.softcox.com/e398-to-ROKR/ tutorial said. and make that xvi32 edition stuff again (overwrite 4009 to 4013).
after that, put this functional_pds file back to the phone, all by following the tutorial. The problem is gone.

Thankyou for your suggestion ... I just upgraded from my R372 to R373 with the four steps that I list before!
I don't like too much seem editing and "glueing" them

I think that for a "newbe" it's more easy to "Flash & Flex" a phone instead of using an HEX editor ...

Now I'm searching for a nice theme... and possibly not a dark one! on Bodyguard's MP I found a lot of nice skins, but nothing really "accessible"

.. any suggestions? I'm using "Royal" but I hate the new icons
