lockline question

I have lockline insurance on my phone. Now my son wants my phone. If we switch the phones, does lockline insure my phone (son's before switch) or son's phone (my phone which was insured originally)? we have family plan.
thanks

The phone is in insurance not your number (Although its connected together). Cingular has no way of knowing whos using what phone since its GSM with a Sim card...if your son loses the phone, just call lockline and say that you lost the phone...this isnt really cheating the system.

thanks. I wasn't sure whether I have to inform Lockline and he has to have his own insurance under his own phone number. I don't need insurance on his old phone...

If your son loses the phone, the only downside is that you have to say that YOU lost the phone...but the bad thing is that they might think the SIM is in it and they might disconnect YOUR sim.

Your best bet is to just call them and say to switch the phone numbers. Thats what I'd do, shouldn't take more than 5 mins. Just tell them that you switched the Sims.

So:

1) New phone under your sons phone number
2) Old phone under your phone #.

Call Cingular and talk to them.

wrong. through lockline the number that has the insurance has the coverage. If you pay and your son looses it with his sim, it would not be covered. When he uses the phone his iemi(serial type number) will register with cingular, And the phone you are using will also register. So if you give him the phone, you upgrade to a 8125, when you report it lost cingy will have an 8125 registered to your sim. When ever you are on the network, your iemi numberregister with cingy.

Wrong.

Cingular does not know what phone you're using...unless they go through the authorities for emergency situations such as deaths etc...Cingular is not Verizon.

if someone says they lost a s307, when there sim is in a treo 650 cingular will know but the last registered iemi number to the account.

Thats why you turn off the phone...
