How do I get my mp3's on my storage card to play as ringtones from that device?

When i put MP3's in windows/rings it shows up, but they do not play. It just doesnt work with MP3's for me.. I have to convert to wavs to gett hem as my rings.. it sux

Seems to me that Moto forced people not to be able to use MP3s from the SD card thanks to iTunes.

ok maybe I am blind, but where did you mention what THAT device is and where are people getting Moto from, if its from your profile then you have the i860 listed, a Sprint/Nextel phone which I don't understand why you would be posting in the Cingular forum about.

Am I missing something?

Ok well then its simple, place the files you want to use as ringtones in the main folder of you mini-SD card, don't place it in any subfolder. That should work, if you want to use it as a notification tone (txt msgs, etc.) then it must be in the device's windows folder and the file can't be too big and must be wav.

hum... that didnt work... moving it into the main folder... it still copied it over to windows/rings

I dunno, i have my main ringtone in the root folder of my miniSD card and there is nothing in my windows/rings rolder except some random ring that was there to begin with.

Thats what I have, one on the left is my SD card, right is windows/rings. 02 taste of ink is a file i have that I use as my ringtone for my phone.

theres a seem edit for Use of Pictures on Removable Media for Phonebook, but have always had to move audio to the phone to use it.

I forgot, I was told of a sw version for the v3i that will give you the ability to use songs from your memory card as a ringtone.
