Well here you go folks

http://www.engadget.com/2006/04/22/...-up-on-the-fcc/

Posted by: Darth Pooh

Ok, well I placed my SIM card in the "slot" on the pics. It is actual size on the pictures. Sidekick3 is SMALLER than the Sidekick 2. People are screaming about how much larger it is. It isn't as HIGH, ABOUT the same length if a TADDDDD smaller, and I don't know thickness, but from previous pics, it does seem to be less thicker.

Personal opinion, that track mouse better work good, or I am sticking with my SK2.

Posted by: Yupz

WOW good observation Pooh

Posted by: Darth Pooh

And it is quite clear it has bluetooth. Look hard. You'll see it.

Posted by: Yupz

Yea on the papers in the FCC report says it has bluetooth.
Also its a Triband GSM 850/1800/1900 GPRS/EGPRS

Posted by: integlspwr

woot. i cant wait!

Posted by: Yupz

Here's a bigger picture of the back... Notice the 1.3 Megapixel & miniSD of the left side

Posted by: MsButterfli

OH HELLLS YEAH..... i knew all of these "discontinued" "not available for upgrades" stories were for something....cant wait to use this upgrade credit.

Posted by: Nas6034

O hell yeah cant wait for this....Any ideas of when it might get release..My best guesse the Holiday...

I doubt it'll take that long. Since it's already FCC approved my best guess is Summer-ish

Posted by: CoRupT

Im thinking in the next 1-2months... I just bought a used Sidekick 2 for 100.00 so i plan to sell it when the sidekick 3 comes out. And continue my prepaid plan with t-mobile

Posted by: sezzy

I doubt they will wait for the holidays, with this new info from the FCC SK2 sales will drop drasticly. And of course most stores are already out of them or saying they are backordered. My guess would be June.

Posted by: The Mac Ace

woot woot, this is pure pwnage!

Posted by: Prom1

I also noticed 2 other sweet things for DAILY usuage!

http://gullfoss2.fcc.gov/prod/oet/f...tive_or_pdf=pdf

shows certification for both EDGE data rates & 850MHZ !!!!!!!!!

BRING IT ON!!!!

I cant believe it I WANT ONE!

FLINT of DANGER INC (yeah thats my boy in the photo with MC Hammer on his blog!)
GIVE ME ONE!!!! ASAP
I'll visit CL when your back in town!

PS NICE WORK SHARP & DANGER INC -> Ive always stated that THIS IS WHAT THE SK2 WAS SUPPOSED TO BE!

Time to seriously INVEST in TMOBILE & Danger INC.

I pray that the transfering purchased music onthe MiniSD isnt prohibitive & also that we STILL can see exclusive voice/ringtone downloads keep coming.

Also what MAJOR improvements to the OS & the Download FUN page have been upgraded???!! This is the REAL shiz that keeps us using this device.
Even if it doesnt use WiFi this is worth it if I can use it as my MP3/AAC music player & store copies of photos on as well as sync them to the Danger Desktop site.!

Great closeups of the original pictures, and lots of information.

Posted by: Prom1

Curious BIGTIME of the bluetooth profiles supported.

http://qualweb.bluetooth.org/Templa...&ProductID=3090

links to something called KBTmobile Inc. when I did a search for "Tmobile" while "Danger" or "Danger INC", or "Danger inc." resulted in nothing.

"hiptop" or "sidekick" or "pv200" or even just "pv" result in NADDA found in the Bluetooth certification site.

Can anyone post the other PV names of the previous Sidekicks?!

Search for "sharp" to see what comes up

Posted by: Prom1

I did but nothing close to this comes up.

Posted by: Mistaj0hnny

Finally. Doesn't look too bad... I just hope the back of the previous leaked pictures of the prototype aren't the same on the real one.

Why not? Whats wrong with the back?

Posted by: Mistaj0hnny

Looks horrible, IMO.

Posted by: Yupz

To me it doesnt look that bad. Just to plain they should add a Sidekick 3 back there like they did on the Sidekick II on the grey strips

Posted by: terryjohnson16

How are people saying its smaller than the SK2? It looks the same and bulky.

Posted by: Chinasaur

Bout farking time!!!

Posted by: pink_thats_hott

And yet I still prefer the look of the SKII.

Anyone estimate how much will this be selling for? Also, is there money off for new T-Mobile customers?

I'm confused ... does it flip like the SKII or does it slide?

Posted by: sezzy

Yes it still flips open like the sk2. No one knows the price yet. My guess and its only a guess around $399.00. Although the old road map I think had it priced at $299.00. I will have to dig up the picture. I found the roadmap and it does have a price of $299.00. So keep your fingers crossed they don't change it.

Posted by: djayrage

Tmobile stores here in Chicago are still selling the SK2's for $300 so I would expect the SK3 to be about $400

Posted by: pink_thats_hott

Does anyone think there will be any other designs / colors than this one? And can anyone tell if bumpers are optional?

Posted by: DLo_lopez

I love this new SK3, but my only concern that y gf and I have is, will the RF be the same or better than the SK2. Thats the major complaint (besides bulky) we have about the SK2 right now. So we hope that changes.

David

Posted by: CoRupT

This will make it better for people who want to use sidekicks on cingular or something... Even thought the internet wont work and the email wont work. At least it has 850 now. I hope the price isnt to high i want to get a SK3 and get rid of this SK2

Posted by: terryjohnson16

Whats the point of having the device if you won't use the data on it? Plus, unless you are in an area where T-Mobile allows roaming on Cingular, you won't be able roam.

Posted by: Yupz

Its a great device for texting. If you have no need for the data part and just want a phone with a qwerty keyboard for texting than the sidekick is for you. I think we will all agree that the qwerty keyboard on the sk is the best hands down

Posted by: CoRupT

I mainly use my SK2 for AIM/Text and a little T-zone surfing

Posted by: Desert_Fox

Ooooh!!! I absolutely adore the Sidekick series, but for me this will convert me to it.

Also its a Sharp phone this time around... Friggin sweet!!!

Posted by: terryjohnson16

News Flash. Its been made by Sharp.

Posted by: dasupaman23

How long does T-mobile have the contract with Danger? With them adding the 850 it seems like they want to work with Cingular now. Hmmm is this a possiblity???

The reason it has 850 has nothing to do with Cingular. It has been added because T-Mobile has been signing more 850MHz roaming agreements, with other carriers, to improve their coverage. Plus, the Hiptop has come with the 850MHz band since the Sidekick 2 aka Hiptop 2. Suncom has had the Hiptop 2 which comes with the 850MHz band. The PV-108 model has GSM 850 instead of 900.

T-Mobile will make the craziest move ever if they let the Sidekick line go. In other news the 850 band might have been added since T-mobile is adding lots 850 to their coverage.

Posted by: badgirl

i posted this first and admin deleted it..

Posted by: Darth Pooh

It was merged. Besides, you posted a thread with "Check this out". Bad thread name.

Posted by: Mistaj0hnny

You know... upon further investigation... I think the new SK3 is gonna be a slider... how? well look at this.

Or maybe Danger flipped the signs to the right side after the leaks were released... who knows

in your two photos.. the first one the scroll button is on the left.. your second pic.. the scoll button thing is on the right.. so it is a flip and not a slide..

like so.. i flipped the first pic..

OOOOH, so the picture wast taken upsidedown or something. Hahah I feel stupid

I REALLY hope FIDO get this phone!!!!

Too bad the sidekick 2 doesnt have t-zones..

Posted by: CoRupT

Danger surfing or w/e same ole crap to me lol

Posted by: brewm12

its not a slider. if you look at the label it says sidekick then next to it it says sidekick upside down. thats so you can see sidekick rightsideup in flipped screen mode and normal mode.

Posted by: pimpdaddypat

what i would like to know is where is the speaker phone on the sk3???
also nobody has mentioned the fact that now it atleast has a removeable battery instead of having a built in internal one...

Posted by: CIAlias

I really hope the smaller size doesn't interfere with the keypad. The one reason why I'm with the SKII instead of a treo or blackberry is because their keypads are too small!

Hiptop - "Jet"
Color Hiptop - "Turner"
Triband Color Hiptop - "Tina"
Hiptop 2 - "PV-100" (FCC ID: P5J-ONISH)
Hiptop 2 Quadband - "PV-108" (FCC ID: P5J-ONISH8)
Hiptop 3 - "PV-200"

The Sidekick has never been Quad-band. The SK2 came in 2 version. T-Mobile had the PV-100 version which had 900/1800/1900MHz bands on it, while Suncom, had the PV-108 model, which had 850/1800/1900MHz on it.

In [b]Canada[b] Fido has had the hiptop since the colour version, and according to another thread it has been approved in Canada - so we will expect it soon.

woops my bad about that.

My only gripe on the SK series is that their screens aren't super sharp. I hope they would improve it by this generation.

I have a question for you SK/ SK II kids:

Do java programs work on this? As in can you install Google Local or Opera Mini on it ? I would love to know this since with T-Mobile here in the US, its unlimited data for it.

Posted by: saintjohnson

When I look on the back of my SK2's screen, the model listed is PV-100.

When I open this link, FCC Test Report , the model listed is PV-200 from Sharp.

I'm not saying that it is the third Sidekick, but I am saying that its pretty close to what I was looking for...

Darla's take

Posted by: Mr_Nasty

Whats every 1 think mda or sk3?

Posted by: OneAboveAll

I had the MDA, its not a bad device. SK3 no one knows yet so you really can't compare the two.

Posted by: Mr_Nasty

that's true I'm basing it off the current specs if it doesn't have vid play back and a MP3 plus a more open operating system danger and sharp both can blow me

This is incorrect. The FCC test report (https://gullfoss2.fcc.gov/prod/oet/...tive_or_pdf=pdf) indicates that the PV-108 has an Enfora GSM0108 RF module, which, according to Enfora's datasheet (https://www.enfora.com/downloads/sp...s/GSM0108HR.pdf) is a quadband 850/900/1800/1900 module.

Now, as to whether the OS supports quadband operation, I honestly don't know. But the P5J-ONISH8 does have a quadband GSM module in it, at least according to the FCC exhibits.

If you look closely you can tell its not a removable battery but a removable back and I'm assuming this because the picture without the backing shows the IMEI sticker and it is necessary for the IMEI to be accessible to us so that T-mobile can verify our phones. Just an assumption, does anyone else agree?

Posted by: bsoft

It's interesting that Sharp submitted the FCC application instead of Danger (who submitted the applications for the PV-100 and PV-108, despite the fact that both were manufactured by Sharp).

Posted by: Dzenis

I just wanna know how much its going to cost for the unlimited internet and messeging i hope its less then $29.99

If you look closer you'll notice three gold connection pins on the lower left where the battery and the pins would connect.

O yea your right, I didn't notice that.

I have 1 comment & 4 major questions/concerns/insights.

Comment - No Sidekick/Hiptop will ever be a slider to expose the keyboard because another company has a patent. Its too expensive, and the swivel is more unique and allows the screen to be slightly tilted to the user! smart design move. Also Danger designs the software & most of the hardware in co-operation with Sharp and they make the final descision; And they're VERY happy with SHARP! Smart move again Danger.

> BT I really hope OBEX file xfer is supported. Futhermore A2DP profile support for Stereo BT Headphones but this would seriously alienate a huge fan base; the hearing impaired.

> I'd really like for one chipset to be Quadband and supported by the OS; less OS tweaking and firmware revisions are reduced when the hiptop lineup goes to the US/Canada/France/Germany.

> it seems that EDGE is capable but not supported, WHY oh WHY?! This would make IMS never lag especially with sending pics and syncing larger pics made with the OS to the Danger servers. Furthermore for MMS! and music download.

> I am perplexed that the SK 3 doesnt have a 3.2MP/2MP camera since the latter is becoming the norm. With such an incredible camera those ppl that want instant email & IM but dont need the enterprise sophistication of the Blackberry and the leash of the BES from 'the man' could fight the power with sweet photos, DUDE imagine those quality photos of Vida Guerra in THAT resolution; PURE Desktop wallpaper, bwoy! (btw, VIDA you need to do a movie girl quick!)

> The OS: I would SERIOUSLY like to see Danger Inc to work a little harder at realizing a concept of a 'professional' version of the Sidekick .... call it ... Shorthand/Underdog/etc (sorry I'm drunk a.t.m. so my brain isnt working at its best; you get the drift) for the slightly more demanding corporate person that can get this to work with their corporate email and have the ability for an administrator to provision.!!

> Programmers MAKE MORE GAMES, & APPS! I want to blog to ANY online sight I wish without being a programmer! MORE OPTIONS.

If you look up the PV-108 on the FCC:

https://gullfoss2.fcc.gov/prod/oet/...P5J-ONISH8'

Click on the link for "Test Report", "Conducted 850MHz" (or "Conducted 1900MHz"). Note that the submitted document is indeed for an Enfora GSM0108.

You can also see the bottom of page 3 of the "Test Setup", "Radiated" document which indicates that the device contains an Enfora GSM0108.

So what. The FCC put Tri-band for the SK3. They would not have put that if it was going to be sold as Tri-band here in the US and Canada. Plus, when the SK2 came out, they made 2 versions, which one had the 900MHz band, while the other had the 850MHz band.

If the phone does have the Quad-band tech, Sharp or Danger could have disabled a band, since that band will not work in that part of the world.

Thats the current price, why would they make it less? If anything they might raise the price since we're going to be using EDGE & GPRS not just GPRS like the SK2.

the guys right. Hopefully it wont go up. I am interested as well. in a couple things the quality of the screen the customability. I come from Pocket PC and nokias. Amazing customization options. I dont want to look at a screen that says "DANGER" or "SIDEKICK III" all, I want to look at VIDA GUERRA . Is there any sites that SDK users go to specifically for theyre phones that have apps and hacks, wallpapers ect. I want to know where to go once I pick one up.

Currently for the SK2 its so locked down that the only thing that can be changed is the screensaver, other than that you locked to using all of the apps T-Mobile gives you. Will this change for the SK3? No one knows

PV-108 is the quadband version of the Sidekick II. Regardless of what some may say, the PV-108 has an Enfora GSM0108 in it, which is a quadband module. Danger may have disabled the GSM900 support on the PV-108 (possibly because they don't want to submit a GSM900 test), but it's in the hardware.

Now, as for the PV200 (Sidekick III), I have no idea whether it's triband (as the FCC report would seem to indicate) or quadband.

Posted by: i.Fido

Fido (Rogers) better well pick this up quickly.

We still have not received the javascript update on our Hiptop 2's yet. Apparently the update is being sent out in June for all Fido users.

Does that mean we will see the Hiptop 3 around Christmas time???

That is, if Rogers even allows Fido to get it. They wouldn't want the competition while they're pushing Blackberries and Treos. Since they now OWN Fido....its not looking great.

Apps will probably stay locked. Why do you think Namco is taking the time and money to port their whole library to the smallish hiptop crowd? (and yes, they are port they payed to convert and test, not just J2ME drop in). I'm sure the locked, unpiratable catalog model as a lot to do with that.

But other stuff like screensavers and knowing what other "customization" the sk3 will support (other than the ringtones for US TMO customers obviously) is anyone's guess. And if they are customizable, knowing if they will allow custom customization or just catalog downloaded one is another subject. But they have 3 years experience running the catalog now...
