Healthy charge cycles for the battery

I rmemeber doing research a while ago on my ipod about the lithium batteries and I read that it's best for the battery to be charged when its near empty, 0 to 1 bars out of 3. I'm just assuming this applies to the lithium batteries in our cell phones and I know it's unavoidable at times to charge at 2 bars fearing you'll run out the next day, especially those that use bluetooth and the other features a lot. So I'm just wondering for those that do this, how are your batteries holding up?
