Candy Bar or Flip?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Just a question..... I like the candy bar cells because they are nearly indestructable unlike the "pansey" flipping phone types. I mean can it get anymore 80ish? You see a guy get a call and he pulls out his flip phone, flips it open (for all to see and admire how flippy his flip can flip) and starts talking with a smug look on his face as if to say, "You like my flip? Its sexy". At least with a candy bar its straight up bizness - not showing how you can can flip your flip for flip's sake. Anyone got any other opinions?

Its all personal preference.

For me I like flip better, especailly the V635, because its built really sturdy, and even if the flip is open and its dropped, nothing is going to happen to it, unlike the V3 which has a weak flip..and I have heard of them breaking in half easily.

But the flip phones are a lot easier to deal with, they arnt as long, and are MUCH more protected then candy bars(screen, keypad). and I dont like to have to keep locking the keypad everytime I put it in my pocket. cause if you forget then you could dial somebody out, and waiste mins..or just have everybody in the world know what your doing because whoever is listening can hear everything.

Plus candy bars creak and crack when you walk..which is extermely annoying.

creak and crack??

Candy bar phones rock.. I used to be into flip fones, but got over them..

ROK ON CANDY BAR!!

Yes, you know, plastic rubbing against itself making creaking sounds...like a rusty hinge on a 200 year old door.

I like the way the SLVR looks, but speaking from a stylish point..candy bars are the old style of phone.

I mean hell, most of our house cordless phones are candy bar style...and they look cheap..why would i want a cell phone mimicing that?

Lol, but cordless house house phones dont feature 3D surround speakers with cameras, mms and sms, not to mention GPRS.

I dont find the slighest resemblence between the two, but I guess its a personal choice.

Just like to point out that most flip cell phones do lack in features. i.e I havent seen a single flip fone that has sound relativley to the e398 or e1000.

And also in regards to the plastic rubbing against itself, ive never heard of this before, and its never happened to me either. If anything the hinge in a flip would creak slightly whilst moving in your pocket and not a solid candy bar fone.

its up to each different person, some people will prefer candy bar and some will prefer flip, i personal like flip phones btter i think in general the look better and are more stylish

Lack in features? the 635 has pretty much everything the L7 has. and most other phones.

and sound relativity? wow...your tiny 1/2 inch speaker sounds better than mine!!

as for surround sound...I can do the exact same thing on my phone, and that 3d surround is just a goified term for cheap surround, why not get 8.1 on a phone?

Posted by: bhwarrior

Whatever, its personal choice anyway.

And just out of interest which flip fone boasts Vibe synced sound like the e398?

Posted by: leukoplast

My 635 can vibe sync..if I had another phone to take a pic of it, I would show you the option to turn it on or off.

I like flip phones better, just because the way they look, I don't need tons of features really becasue I use my phone to...talk to people, I don't need surround sound, big speakers to hear someone im talking to or to hear the phone ringing..

LoL, flips lack in shear toughness. I never actually broke my candy bar by dropping it. Well once (I dropped it in the swimming pool), but I broke many flips by accidentally dropping them. That or the hinge goes bad and takes out the display or sound. Battery life also sucks for flips.

Lol, another candy bar fan =]

You have to get the right flip..agreed most of them suck, I know tons of flips that are peices of junk. But I know my V400 and my V635 are really tough, dropped them dozes of times with no problems. Plus I dont have to worry about scratching up my screen with a flip.

But as for battery length, I dont think it matters whether its a flip or not, its how the phone is built. and its firmware/software etc.

Some Moto flips are tough like V635. Some aren't.

yeah, I have heard the razors break in half really easily.
