Help with cable for 9800 using bitpim

Trying to use bitpim for the first time. I need to know what cable to use for my 9800. I have this one for transferring files, but I think I might need one that plugs directly into the phone itself. I tried to buy the music essentials package sold by Verizon that included a cable, disc and headphones, but was told that it wouldn't work for the 9800 by the Verizon rep. Help please.
