Hi, Can anyone help me i have lost my backup of the pds file. It is no longer on the phone to get again. my phone will not start and i need a fix. is it possible to edit the pds file from another v3 to work in my v3? can it be done by hex editing and if so what do i have to change in order to make it compatible. as i understand i need to make it compatible with my imei number and also bluetooth, TIA for any help.

Do you try alredy? a software called repairstudio? try to repair PDS via SOFTWARE? If you cannot?
Maybe you need to send it to someone that have a SMARTCLIP (hardware).

I used repair studio and it worked fine...It's a free demo version but it's enough for what you need. There is a good thread about reviving a E-398 that will walk you through the steps... Guides are here and at MotoModders.net

Ok i used the free version of repair studio and now my phone wont even go into bootloader mode and my pc will not recognise it. so i have ordered a smartclip, will this fix my phone? will i have to do testpoint? or am i just pissing in the wind? any advise is most appreciated

If you are lucky smart moto and SC will detected then you just have to repair PDS and flah it with MP. IF not test point it will have to be.

do you mean smartmoto software and smartclip? Would you mind posting a link for how to do the testpoint just in case. I am assuming that the testpoint procedure forces the phone into flash mode???

Just have to force boot....It will pick it up and then you can go from there...Guides for that also....
