Can I use the regular Memeory Disk card with the Treo 650 ? or does it has to be a ScanDisk card?

and whats the difference between the MD card and SD card ??

Hello Shakur,

This is Kevin from Palm. I'm not certain about your reference to an MD card, unless you mean an MMC (MultiMediaCard). The differences between the two are explained in the Palm Knowledge Library article "Differences between Secure Digital (SD) and MultiMediaCard (MMC) formats". There is also a General Expansion Card FAQ that may be of interest to you.
Most everyone seems to go with SD cards and Sandisk is just one manufacturer. There are a handful of other major manufacturers, as well, and you may want to run a search on SD cards here at HoFo for more information. Whichever manufacturer you decide on, just be certain it complies with specifications as defined by the SD Card Association. You can find out more about that here.

when he says MD he means memory disk. get a SD card. a sandisk. their real cheap on ebay. if u get a defective one. buy the exact same one from best buy or wherever then return it with the broken one in it n get ur money back.
get a 1gb. anything lower n i promise u soon enough it wont be enough. even a 2gb if u use alot of songs n want more than a couple movies or whatever.

Get as big as you can afford sd card. (I like vince24L's return/money back policy). The Treo can take a 2 gb easily, but will soon be able to take the 4 gb with some upgrade work.

If you want a 2 gb, or even a 1 gb, go with this 2 gb card on newegg. I have had it for 2 weeks and it works great. Also there are 58 reviews to read (all of which give it great ratings) to make sure, if you don't trust just my word, or semi-short useage.

they were selling a 2gig sd card for $85cdn at factory direct.. dono if they still are.. might upgrade to a 2gig from 1 gig... kabuki after seeing ur phone painted i think i want to do some painting too. wha kinda paint do u use? do i need any special paint?

Wong- I've used several different kinds of paint. The first(sparkle black) was Krylon for Plastics, which wasn't that great. The lates turquoise paint job is Tamiya, which I highly recommend. It's made specifically for plastic models so it's optimal for painting plastic phone housings. I used the plain old cheap ColorPlace grey primer first & then 2 thin coats of Tamiya. It's highly pigmented so you don't need 10 coats, & it dries super fast. I didn't use a topcoat, but if you do, use Tamiya's topcoat or else it'll mess it up.

I don't see the point of paying $85 for a huge SD card unless you plan on using your Treo 650 as an IPod or video player. I guess it can function alright as a mp3 player (how is battery life with that?)

I used to switch off between using a 1 gig for my camera and phone; however, I recently finally bought a 256-meg SD card from NewEgg for $8. It fits all my Treo games and applications with plenty of room for mp3s, ringtones, more games, applications, etc.

I think buying a 1 gig+ card is useless unless you are using it for the scenarios described above.

Just wanted to know how many mp3 songs will a 2gb sd hold.Just an average.I'm about to enter the dark side.I have a i870 and am waiting for the 700p to drop.I hope the treo is everything people say it is.Can't wait.Thanks in advanced

if u put all music on a 2gb card it should hold about 500 songs.

I got a 2 GB from Newegg for $63 w/ shipping. I personally use it for movies, games, and mostly music. Its a perfect Ipod killer, apart from only having 2GB. Now that i've done a ROM update with a 4GB capability, I'll be able to carry more music in the future.

You'd have to go to Treocentral.com for that answer.

I've done it for my Unlocked Cingular Treo 650. Believe me when i say this, but it is very easy to do. All it take is time and patience.
