This may not make sense, but I've been thinking about getting a 8125 In July when its time to renew. But since I dont own a smartphone/ppc/pda/ect, I had a question that I was curious about.
I was reading that it had a mini usb port and was wondering if it was possible to use a usb adapter cable that supported the mini usb on the 8125 side and a standard usb on the other side, and attatch a usb thumbdrive or even a usb attatched harddrive as storage. If it is, but there is a detail I'm missing, by all means please fill me in.
Thanks.

It does not work that way. The miniUSB port is for charging and ActiveSync. It comes with a miniSD slot that you can plug in a miniSD card. So no need for external thumb drive.
Remember, Intel designed USB in such a way that all devices have to talk to the host (so Intel can sell more processors). Device and Device can not talk to each other directly. Unfortunately, in this case, the host is your PC not the phone.

Well, there goes that idea. I was thinking if i could attatch a usb microdrive (or better yet usb 2.5 inch drive) that it would be a great way to stream media to it while in the car. Oh well. Thanks.

how about streaming media directly from a wifi nas device? i havent seen any bluetooth nas devices. saw toshiba was going to have something, but that was a few years ago. and a quick google turned nothing up.

It will work but your battery will only last about 1 hour with constant Wi-fi usuage. I saw ppl use Orb to stream audios from your PC via GPRS/EDGE connection and it works but you will need pay for unlimited data plan which its self is a puzzle, i.e. which data plan is the right one for 8125.

well, actually i do quite a bit of driving. so what i'm looking for is a mass storage solution (yeah, some people would just say ipod), that i could use in my vehicle. if i used a wifi as, it could change vehicles with me. the 8125 could be charged the whole time, and the nas plugged into an inverter (unless there is a 12v dc one somewhere).
again, just looking at options. i got 2 months to figure something out.

If you need more than 1-2GB, a NAS is your only solution. There are no other interfaces on the Wizard.
You'd probably have a better user experience with one of those purpose-built video players though. Probably cheaper too if you get one with a built-in HD.
