My boss wants me to get a new cell phone for work I have the 2 following choices. Given that a lot of my job can be out in the field and requires me to do tech service for production plants, I'm thinking of going with the 4930 which looks more rugged and which has a longer battary life.

Can any one recomend one over the other?

i have a sanyo vi-2300 and the only problem i had with it was to much metal dust in the speakers distorting the sound. i've dropped it a few times on a concrete floor and it hasn't broken yet. i plug in the charger every night and the battery never gets down to the last bar unless i spend a while playing games on it. i can't say anything about the rl-4930 cause i've never used one, but the vi-2300 should work good for you.

We have 4920, and for a basic phone, although a little big, is bulletproof, with pretty good reception and battery life. I cannot imagine that the 2300 with folding hinge is as rugged as the rubberized 4930. 4930 has ready link if you use that in work.

get the 4930, it gets the best signal of any sprint phone, has the longest standard batt life of any sprint phone, and is one of the two (the other being the 7500) more rugged sprint phones. if you are worried about scratching the screen, have your boss put esrp or tep on your plan and get a case for the phone

Thanks for the advice everyone!

I went ahead and got the 4930 since the extra battary life and ruged design is a huge plus for working in the field. A coworker of mine has the 2300 and I thought it was a little flimsy around the hindge area. I'll post more once my phone gets in,

try funformobile.com, they send polytones directly to your phone and if you have internet access on your phone it's totally free, which makes up for the fact that they're not actual songs

Anything from SANYO is good.
Wife had the 4920 it was ok but she didn't care too much for it. Just got her the 2300 (rose) and she likes it much better. Has a longer then I could wish for battery life (she always complained about the 4920 not lasting very long). Never had any problems with it but other then it being a open face phone, hitting the keys (unless you use key guard). You will find too that the 2300 has better reception. It's worked in a couple of stores where the 4920 didn't so I'm sure the 4930 might be better, I've not used one. As people are finding out, looks is not always the best way to pick your phone. The A900, though looks cool, has issues. More then not, the people I've talked too who have the "razor" type phone wouldn't not buy it again. I have the MM7500, replaced a RL7300. I love it. Lots of features, fast online and when plugged into a laptop and takes a beating. Just wish it was a water proof.
