Hi,
I'm new to motorla's... I'm just learning about these flash / flex things.
Will Flashing or Flexing unlock the phone? Or is that a completely seperate process entirely?

Sorry for the n00b question.

No, flashing/flexing a phone will not unlock it, but the reverse can happen. If you have an unlocked phone and flex it with a flex version that was intended for a certain provider you can then lock your phone to that provider.

But flexing a phone to an unbranded version won't unlock it? Interesting.

Exactly, and that is to prevent people from simply re-loading the phone's software to remove the subsidy lock.

I tried responding to your PM Dishe, but you've exceeded your quota. Check the marketplace forum for businesses that can assist you in unlocking your phone. LINK

oops. cleared my pm box.

So, even when unlocked, if you load the wrong flex, it'll lock again?
That's very interesting. What if I loaded a flex for a different provider? Would it then be "locked" to that provider instead?

no answer? If I flash it with the flex for my provider, will it then lock to my provider?

It doesn't matter if the flex is locked or unlocked. If it is locked, you get a text message during boot up. If you want to get rid of the text message, just delete the security file. If you want to find out more, do a search:
