lets assume that i never turn off the phone, and i just keep recharging the battery, which i do with my old phone now anyways, will the ringers stay on if i do everything correctly, using the bitpim method?

As long as the phone doesn't reboot itself, due to problems, you should be fine. Just keep the 9800 charged, and don't mistakenly shut it off :O)

It wouldn't be the end of the world, even if you did shut it off. Doing the process over again wouldn't take forever.

what would make it reboot on its own? how long does it take to transfer those mp3's anyways? i would assume that everytime i put ringers on my phone, i have to put them all on at the same time, even if some of them were on there anyways already. thanks

it would reboot on it's own if there is a defect. I had to exchange my VX9800 yesterday because it would randomly shut off/reboot when I played astropop. haven't had any problems with it now though
