Help Locking a phone to cingular

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hello all, a very friendly cingular employee directed me to this sight, and boy was he right about all the info. Been reading and looking through forums and files for about an hour, and just when I thought I knew what to do, I totally confused myself. Here's my question: I bought a factory unlocked Black RAZR V3, but when I try to access the Cingular media.net page by pressing the operator button, it gives me nothing. The cingular employee told me by using the data cable, I can "Flex" the phone to do this. I've seen where some people host the files for this, but could anyone post up a walkthrough or a link to one?
As I learn more I'll continue to post here and repay what looks to be a great community

Thanks for the replys, I guess I have to describe my problem a little better for the pro's
My phone won't even recognize cingulars website, just gives a white background with gibberish links. It also won't send/receive text messages, including the OTA messages I tried to send from cingualrs website I found through here? Does that make more sense? Thanks again guys/gals, alot-if you ever need pc tech support just hit me up

you just need the settings forwarded to your phone

no need to flex your phone.

I wish it was that easy (You really climbed a cell tower?)
I can't get this thing to accept any kind of text or OTA message.
Turns out this is a European phone, and after reading other forums people have various experiences with the same problem, some have gotten lucky and gotten it to work, me, I'm starting to think I'm a victim of "we cannot guarantee data service compatability".
I think if I could just get the text settings to accept text messages I'd be ok.
Under mesage setup, I have:
MMS Message Setup
In view: Sender
Service center: +14047259000 (i live in the southeast, Florida)
Auto Clean: 3 days
Email Gateway: 121
SMS Alert: On
Use GPRS: No

What you need to do is connect the phone to either p2kman or p2ktools via data cabl and delete the Websession file from the phone and restart it. then do this for the MMS:

Go in to Messages> Hit the top middle button> Scroll down to Inbox Setup and hit SELECT> At the MMS Messages Setup hit CHANGE> Scroll down to Server Info: and hit SELECT> delete everything in there.

Now have Tingular send the settings OTA again and see if that works?

Thank you soo much, problem not solved but getting closer.
Got rid of the files, including the message provider (was set to O2 out of United Kingdom). I went to tingular and requested another OTA reset, but haven't received it, and now I also have no internet at all.
How long should I wait for the OTA messages, and, should I go back in and use the data from the stickys to put tingular back in under websessions?

You could put the settings in yourself if you want. Sometimes Tingular gets backed up on sending the info.

Thanks, I'll give it overnight with a reboot in the morning and see what happens, my eyes are starting to bleed!
4 hours ago all I could tell you about a razr was "SHINEY!!!",
now I'm reading white papers on it lol
Thanks, this is a great community forum

does this work for the L7's as well? I heard that the V3 is different?

Posted by: djdownhill

^^^^^^^^ As long as you delete the websession file and restart the phone it will create a new BLANK websession file for you to have either Tingular send you the files OTA or set them up yourself. You still have to delete the MMS profiles the way I mantioned above to get that part working.

This is something I did with p2kman a while back but it will give you an idea for doing the same with P2KTools since you can not use p2kman with the L7.

1. Click Update list.
2. Your phone will show the a directory of the phone.
3. Scroll to you see the Web Session file to the right.
4. Press the PC>>>Phone button.
4-A A pop up box will appear.
4-BLocate the Web Session for upload and click open.
5. Once the file uploads and reads ok at the bottom click Update list again.
6. Put the number 4 in the Attributes box.
7. Locate the Web Session file again and highlight it by clicking on it.
8. Click the Change button in the Attributes section.
9. When it says ok again at the bottom and click reatart phone
10. After it restarts the web session sould be applied.

Just wanted to say a HUGE Thank you to XCitadelX for PM'ing a Very detailed walkthrough on how to flash. Using his guide I was able to update and lock the phone to Cingular, and every function now works like I bought it straight out of the store. Thanks again for everyones help, I went from being a phone noob to Flasher in a day lol.
Thanks!

I had the same probs; I solved them starting with DJs method; then went to the cingular website and copied their tutorial on how to set up the send/rec messages; then went through setting up the message/websession on the phone as they described; tested - it worked; then backed up the websession file for future use after every MP flash/reflash... just a thought that worked for me.
