If you copy ur mp3's from your t flash to your phone memory and download at least one rintone from lets say t-mobile.. when you go to your sound setup and to your downloaded ringtones youll notice that the mp3 download is bold (you can select it) and the ones you copied over are grey.. well if you select the bold and save it and go back to the sound folder go to the mp3 you want to select and select it (even if it is grey) hit back and hit save.. when you go back to the sound profile you will notice its been selected!

(such as remedy.mp3). now go back and highlight your mp3 file that you want as your ringtone. it is gray and you cant select it right? wrong! hit the left soft key where it says SELECT, it seems as if nothing happened. now hit the right soft key where it says BACK. now it says on the left soft key SAVE. hit save and it will say SAVED and return to the previous menu. now you have it- you just tricked t-moblie into setting an mp3 file as your ringtone without having to rename it.
the only thing i cant figure out now is this: lets say you want a different ringtone when someone else calls you. so your ringtone is a.mp3, but when your girlfriend calls you you want a different ringtone so you know who it is, so you want it as b.mp3. you wont be able to trick t-mobile into setting b.mp3 as the custom ringtone unless you rename the file as b.3gp. but that's the best you'll get unless you mod the t809 into a d820. anyway, I love the advice on the T809, exicited about using Mp3's as ringtones, but is there a way to set them to a caller. I tried the same process, just through the phone book, and then setting a ring tone, but it didn't work. Any help would be totally awesome dudes. Also, I was not quite sure how to change the file name to .3gp, I assume that yous know how so, that would be great as well.
