Sharp PV200 PDA w/GSM850/1900 & EDGE

This is one of the biggest surprises I've seen from Sharp in terms of wireless equipment. A PDA by the name of PV200 has passed through the FCC, and documents show it to have at least GSM 850, 1900 and EDGE capability. While Sharp has released the WZERO3 PDA with PHS for Willcom in Japan, this would be their first PDA with phone capability outside Japan, and the first GSM one at that. The documents at the FCC didn't say if this PDA had other capabilities like GSM 900/1800 and 3G (techs not used in the US at the moment), so it will be interesting to see just where this PDA shows up, and with what features.

this great piece of tidbit info was brought to you by AL9999 and timsta.

timsta, what OS is this PDA running? and more spec?? thanks

there's isn't much more specs.. you can probably find more by googling.

i believe its using its own pda os.. not windows or palm.

That's probably going to be my first PDA phone if it does come out here. Hopefully we should be able to buy it unlocked here in the US.

The proprietary OS somewhat sucks, but I'm hoping its Symbian based so some progs that I have can run on it.

Commonly known as Sidekick 3 or Hiptop 3
Even the Sidekick 2 was made by Sharp

ecstyling's right on this one.

I honestly didn't know the sidekick series was made by sharp.

Too bad it isn't a phone that was catered to the japanese market then brought over here, or else it would have much higher specs.
