Hello all- After looking at the Toshiba 903 and the Sharp 904 I must say the Sharp wins out since I saw some great pictures of it on an Asian forum.
Although now with the Sharp there is this "locked, unlocked" issue.
If I buy the Sharp, can someone tell me since this phone is "locked" what function(s) on the phone will NOT work ?
I would like to know what I am paying not to have.
If I am mistaken and the phone is fully functional then I will buy everyone a beer*

If a phone is 'locked' generally means the phone cannot dial or receive any calls or messages or anything similar. The Sharp 903SH has these probelms. Many people have been unable to unlock these phones/

Can i have the beer? i am in australia. Us Australians aren't that far away from the Kiwis.

If the phone is locked, all features which rely on the network/service provider is not usable, when you buy this phone some shops or seller will include a japanese sim card, this allows you to use the functions from the 904sh which does not rely on the network.

so you can use the camera and java games etc., and yes you can use it as a paperweight.

btw will reprovisioning be a problem even after unlock? since this phone is only for japan

Thanks for your help everyone.
So, it seems that this phone is not fully functional outside of Japan.
I guess thats what the unlocking people are working on.

this phoen is not unlocked yet as previously stated.. its coming soon. so dun pull out all your hair yet.

OT the Sharp 804s are on eBay now ~$488cad...try that one.
