I was using my Boost I860 then I got an unlocked boost I875. I simply put my exsisting boost card in it and it works perfectly. Today my girlfriend added me to her Nextel plan, the only thing I had to do was purchase a sim card. I did that and all was fine since my 875 was already unlocked. She wants my 860 so we stuck her nextel card in my boost 860 and got the subsidy lock. My question is since a code plug is needed to unlock the phone is the code plug part of the phones embedded software or part of the sim card embedded software or both? The reason I ask is because you cant read the code plug without a sim.

I'm confused.

Ok. The subsity lock is not in the CP for the i860. This is a rumor and you read it from someone that was wrong and this has not been true for years, since the i90's. As for how to unlock it, You need to pay someone to do it or do it yourself with softwear. Unfortortily Motorola is cracking down on websites that offer these. You need to look for something called Raptor Pro. That will unlock your i860 since it is a rom9 phone. You will NEED a serial cable. USB does not work.

USB will not work? hmmmm ok Serial is needed. Where can I get a serial cable from, I just ordered a usb cable from ebay.

I would wait till you find the software first before you get it if it was me. Why buy something you cant use ya know?
