Problem: kx5 remix install

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I'm having a problem with my kx5 phone and installing the driver on my computer. I run the install for the driver from the CD and the install completes. Then I hook my phone up with the cable and run Mobile Phone Tools that came on the CD but the software cannot find my phone. I have also installed the Kyocera Phone Desktop software but it too cannot find my phone. What is the deal? Is there something I am overlooking here?

i'm having trouble as well...I'm trying to install the USB driver that I downloaded fom the kyocera website...I've triple checked to make sure I have the driver that matches the number on my data cable...it works fine on my winxp box but not on my laptop running vista...the kyocera website says that the driver works on win2k/xp/2k3 which in theory means it'll work on vista...but we all know how microsoft feels about "theory"

any ideas?

look in system and go to hardware and go device management and see if your phone is listed there...

Posted by: bigdaikon

Vista is ultra buggy btw......so maybe it is supposed to work but......

Posted by: brokenshadows

no baker...it's not...the usb drivers aren't installing properly. on my xp box, the drivers install and when I plug the phone in it auto-detects and installs properly, after which I can see the phone in the device manager...on the vista box, however, the drivers "appear" to install, and even though vista detects a new device after plugging the phone in, it states that no drivers could be found. suprise, suprise...

i've already reported the problem to micro$oft...i was just wondering if anybody else has had this problem and if they've found a work around...

is your phone in USB mode?

Menu -> Settings -> USB Storage -> Enable

see if that helps...I don't see that there are any drivers specificly for the TXDTC10047 music dock. I don't even see one on driverguide, and I can usually find any driver I need there...

Posted by: sinoloco69in

i tried it with my phone being in usb mode and not in usb mode.....when i disable the usb mode and i hook it up i get the found new hardware wizard.....but i cant find the drivers to install my phone which comes up as "data interface"... thats where i get stuck at and i think thats why pst doesnt recognice my phone...any help?

what version of PST are you using? On the USB cable that connects your dock to your pc, is there a model number? Mine (although not connecting to a dock, just straight to my phone) says TXDTA10102. Do you have the latest USB drivers installed on your machine (I had to update mine befor eI could connect properly)?

Posted by: sinoloco69in

I Think My Pst Version Is 3.8.48' My Dock Version Is "model Txdtc10040 Desktop Charger" It Has A Cable To Get Power And A Usb Cable To My Computer......i Look For Its Drivers But I Never Found Them How Can I Update My Usb Drivers?

Posted by: brokenshadows

well it's probably nothing more than a standard usb cable, and kyocera doesn't seem to have drivers for the dock on the site...run windows update first, then right click on "my computer", click on properties, click on hardware, click on device manager, click the + next to universal serial bus, right click on your usb device and click 'update drivers' and follow the prompts

if that doesn't help then I have no idea what to tell ya

Ok Thaaaaaaaaaaaaanxs!!!!!! I Tried Downloading The Same You That One Did..it Worked!!!! Windows Actually Found Drivers On That Txdta10102 Download. Thanxs Again Ok Now How Do I Get My Pst To Recognise It?

Posted by: brokenshadows

go back into your device manager (see above directions) but instead of going to universal serial bus...go to "Ports (COM & LPT)"...see what the port name is for your phone (mine's COM4)...open PST and go to where you configure the ports (I don't have it installed on this machine so I can't see it to tell you exactly), setup a new port and name it what the device manager has listed (i.e. I named mine COM4)...

Posted by: sinoloco69in

Ok I Went To The Ports And It Says "kyocera Kx5 Control Port (com4)" Thats Exacly What It Says....i Added On Pst Com 4 But It Says ....................................never Mind The Phone's Ther!!!! Yees Thank You Broken Shadows Ibeen Tryin Since 1 Weeks Non Stop!!! Lol Do You Know How To Change The Video Setting Now???

ok i found it its under display..........now the only problem is that i need my service programming code.......... does the phone need to have the usb enabled for it to work on pst? the way im using it is i disable it then the phone restarts and asks me is i wanna run the phone normal(i guess usb enabled) or cancel i think i choose cancel is that right??

Posted by: monicakm

USB needs to be ENabled. My program code was all 0's (5 or 6 of them). I set (and tested) my video at 255 seconds.

I got a kx5. Don't know how to get this cable i got for it to work on my computer. The kyocera website only has two type of cable models that'll work with their software. My cables are generic, non-oem. Bought them on ebay. didn't know that they were generic and not from the original manufacturer. Can you help me? All i wanna do is add music n pics to my phone
